CHARACTER RECOGNATION AND DATABASE MANAGEMENT IN FORM BY USING ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK (ANN) AND LEARNING VECTOR QUANTIZATION (LVQ) METHODE.
ABSTRACT This research is implementation Artificial Neural Network (ANN) by using Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) algoritma, to identify the characteristic of hand writing for new member in library University of North Sumatera form. The result of this characteristic identifiying can be processing in Database that have been build. This research is limited in value Alpha=0.05, and Substract Alpha = 0.1, Epoh= 1 – 100. The objective of this research is to determine the percentage of the best Epoh value. This system are able to identify 38 characters that in Artificial Neural Network terms its same with Neuron. This characters consitst of 26 characters of capital letter ( A – Z), and 10 characters of number (0 – 9). This research consist of 3 steps; Training, Validating and Identify (Recognation). At the Training step, all the data sampling are enclose to Neuron Artificial Neural Network to get a Weight for each Epoh.At the Validating step, some characters are given tobe tested with the Weight for each epoh, and form this step we will get the best percentage from all the Epoh. At the Identifiying steps, the recognition to the application and will be displayed for user.
