Part 3 - Software Provided You will the following file: ●

WA1503.ZIP

All other software listed under Minimum Software Requirements is either commercially licensed software that you must provide or software that is freely available off the Internet.

Part 4 - Important Ghosting or Imaging Information The software for this course can be ghosted.

Software Installation Part 1 - Preparation __1. Extract the WA1503.ZIP file to C:\ __2. Review that the following folders were created: ■

C:\apache-tomcat-5.5.20

■

C:\eclipse

■

C:\LabFiles

■

C:\Software\Apache HTTP Server 2.2

■

C:\Software\JDK 1.5.07

■

C:\Software\MySQL 5.0.24

NOTE: Both Mozilla FireFox and IE must be installed for this course. The students will require both web browsers in order to complete their labs. __3. Install Mozilla FireFox 3.0.3 by running the Firefox Setup 3.0.3.exe file from the C:\Software folder using a default installation. __4. If the version of Internet Explorer installed in the machine is older than 6.0, please upgrade it to 6.0 or 7.0 by downloading it from www.microsoft.com. __5. This course requires administrative privileges to run Apache Server.

Part 2 - Installing Apache HTTP Server 2.2

__1. Run apache_2.2.3-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi from the C:\Software\Apache HTTP Server 2.2 folder. __2. In the Welcome screen click Next.

__3. Accept the License Agreement and click Next.

__4. In the Read This First page click Next.

__5. Enter localhost for Network Domain and Server Name and enter [email protected] for Administrator’s E-mail Address as shown below.

__6. Click Next.

__7. Select Typical installation and click Next.

__8. Click the Change button to change the destination folder.

__9. Then change the Folder name to c:\Apache2.2 and click OK.

__10. Back in the Destination Folder page click Next.

__11. Click Install to start the installation.

__12. When the Installation Wizard Completed message appears click Finish.

__13. Verify that the apache Server is running on the task bar of Windows.

Apache HTTP Server 2.2 is installed.

Part 3 - Modify File Permissions (Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows 8) Note: If installing on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, or Windows 8 perform this section. Failure to follow these additional steps will lead to an unusable installation. These steps allow full access to the directories used by the Apache Web Server install. This is required so that students can write to the document root.

__1. Open Windows Explorer. __2. Right click C:\Apache2.2 and select Properties. __3. Click the Security tab. __4. Click Advanced.

__5. Click Change Permissions. __6. Select the Users entry (add one if not present).

__7. Click Edit… __8. Check the Allow checkbox to the right of Full Control and click OK.

__10. Click OK to continue. __11. A Windows Security dialog will open. Click Yes. __12. Wait until Windows finishes updating security. __13. Back in the Advanced Security Settings dialog, click OK. __14. Back in the Apache2.2 Properties dialog, click OK. __15. Right click C:\Apache2.2 and select Properties. __16. Uncheck the Read-only checkbox so files can be written to the directory.

__17. Click OK. __18. In the Confirm Attribute Changes dialog, click OK, so the change will be applied to this folder, subfolder, and any files.

labs. __20. Make sure the user has full access to the C:\Apache2.2\conf and C:\Apache2.2\htdocs folders. __21. Right click the task bar and select Open Apache Monitor.

__22. The Open Apache Monitor window will open then click Stop.

__23. Enter the admin password if it is required and click Yes.

__24. The server will stop, click Start.

The server will be started again.

Note. If you were asking for password to stop the server means that you need to configure the user to allow the student starting the server without asking permissions or you need to provide the admin password to the student to be able to stop and restart the server because this is required during the labs.

Part 4 - Installing MySQL 5.0.24

__1. Run the Setup.exe file from the C:\Software\MySQL 5.0.24 folder. __2. The Welcome page will open, click Next.

__3. Select Typical and click Next.

__4. Click Install and the installation will begin.

__5. Select Skip Sign-up and click Next.

__6. Check the Configure the MySQL Server now option and click Finish.

__7. In the Welcome page click Next.

__8. Select Standard Configuration and click Next.

__9. Leave the defaults in the instance configuration page and click Next.

__10. Select Modify Security Settings and enter root123 in the New root password field and in the Confirm field and then click Next.

__11. Click Execute to start the installation.

__12. When the installation shows all the processes done click Finish.

__13. From the Start menu, select Control Panel-> Administrative Tools-> Services. __14. When the Services window opens verify that MySQL is started.

__16. From the Start menu, select MySQL → MySQL Server 5.0 → MySQL Command Line Client. __17. Enter root123 as password and hit Enter.

__18. Enter the following command to log out: quit; __19. Close the window. MySQL 5.0.2.4 is installed.

Part 5 - Installing JDK 1.5 update 7 __1. Run the jdk-1_5_0_07-windows-i586-p.exe file from the C:\Software\JDK 1.5.07 folder. __2. Select I Accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

__3. Click on the Change button.

__4. In the Folder name field enter C:\JDK5 and click OK.

__5. Back in the Custom Setup page click Next. The installation will start. __6. Wait for the installation to complete.

__7. Leave the defaults and click Next.

__8. In the browser Registration page just click Next. __9. Wait for the installing to finish.

__10. Click Finish when the Installation Completed message appears.

Java 1.5 is installed.
