New VoD project, “Walk This Way” is supported by the European Union Paris, December the 10th 2014 Under The Milky Way, Europa International and The Film Agency are proud to announce that their project Walk This Way has received support from the European Commission in the framework of the The Online distribution (VoD) scheme. The project will federate nine top-notch European sales agents: Gaumont, Pathé, Autlook, Films Boutique, Films Distribution, Fortissimo, Memento, Reel Suspect and The Yellow Affair, all working under the Europa International banner. Walk This Way will enable the exploitation of more than 30 films on VOD platforms at European level through direct support of technical and marketing expenses. The grouping combines the experience of the leading international aggregator Under The Milky Way and the digital marketing expertise of The Film Agency to the benefit of a qualitative and diverse line-up of European films. Walk This Way aims to meet the challenges of the digital era by experimenting new economic models for the exploitation of films on VoD platforms. The action is structured in three main parts: first, aggregate a diversified slate of films from the sales agents and shape the best attractive package in terms of countries/languages and relevant editorial lines. Second, bring this offer, technically prepared, to the most powerful pan-European platforms such as iTunes, Google, Amazon and also to a maximum of interested local platforms in order to maximize exposure, coverage, availability and potential audiences. Finally, develop and follow-up on digital-friendly customized actions and promotion tools to support digital sales, both on a territory-by-territory basis and on a transversal level. Jérôme Chung, co-founder of Under The Milky Way mentions: “We are very pleased to know that our project has been selected by the new Creative Europe’s program. It’s evident that the whole digital distribution window has become a major challenge for the European industry. Thanks to this support, we will be able to work concretely in its evolution. Our main objective is to put in place a simple and consistent scheme to prepare European films to be noticed and perform in the VOD market. We will enhance the exposure of films by adding value throughout the digital supply chain from the sourcing to the final-user marketing.” Daphné Kapfer, manager of Europa international says: “With our active participation in this kind of projects, we are assessing the new opportunities that digital distribution brings to European films. We hope that this new collective experience will boost these new chances.”
PRESS RELEASE The Film Agency, which gathers an important experience in international and transversal marketing, will design a competitive and efficient marketing strategy in order to maximize the visibility and sales of the movies on VOD platforms. “This new challenge brings us the unique opportunity to keep working on the reach of audiences through diverse windows and developing VOD-adapted marketing tools.” adds Sarah Calderón, CEO of The Film Agency.
