What did we learn in Computer Literacy 1? - A mock examination paper This assignment is designed to make you familiar with the nature of questions you will be confronted with in your real Computer Literacy 1 examination. For this assignment you are allowed to use your lecture slides and notes for help, but please be aware that this won't apply for your real examination. Please answer each question. If possible use a computer and word document to do so, though submission is in hard copy. Part A requires short answers, while Part B requires a short essay as an answer. Part B (essay question) B1. YouTube is a huge phenomenon of our time. How does it operate to become such a huge success? What technology does it use for its videos? Why doesn't it, for example, use HD? Can you only upload movies to YouTube or can you do more with your videos? [10 marks]
Please remember that in your real examination you will have a time limit. To make yourself familiar with the concept you could give yourself a time limit for this assignment (e.g. 30 - 45 minutes). Another difference between the real and mock exam is the number of questions. In this mock exam you have about one quarter of the questions that you will have in your real exam. There will also be an assortment of
essay questions in your real exam and you will pick the one you want to answer out of this assortment. In your real exam you will write with a pen but in this assignment I want you to use a computer and word document. Please first write down the question followed by your answer. Example: 1. (a) What is a computer virus and what does it do? Answer (b) How can you protect your computer from malicious software? Answer . . . Submission: The following instructions should be followed exactly. Failure to do so will certainly lose you marks and may result in your assignment being lost.
You should hand in your assignment on paper into the ITO room 4.02 of Appleton Tower. The office is open: Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 5.15pm, although closes from 11.00- 11.30am and between 1.00-2.00pm for lunch. On the first page of your assignment it should say “CL1 prac3 submission" and your matric. number. For this assignment you should put your name and matric. number to left and right of the footer. In the centre of the footer you should put “Page m of n” where m is the page number and n is the total number of pages.
Deadline for submissions is 16.00 on Friday 28 November
