The Women Leaders MK Awards is a professional and prestigious event that recognises women living or working within the Milton Keynes postcode area, who have contributed to the growth of their industry sector, the organisation within which they are employed or the ongoing success of Milton Keynes. The Awards are the brainchild of Jan Flawn CBE, owner of PJ Care and Dr Julie Mills, Principle and CEO of Milton Keynes College. After winning a First Women of Business Services award in 2013, run by Real Business Magazine and the CBI, the UK’s business lobbying organisation, Jan realised how important it is to recognise and celebrate the achievements of business women in and around Milton Keynes. Our Women Leaders Awards is strongly linked to the national CBI First Women Awards www.FirstWomen.co.uk and four of our last year finalists have been nominated for these awards. In 2015, the event attracted nearly 200 nominations and over 450 guests to the gala dinner and award ceremony, which was held at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel in Milton Keynes. There are 14 award categories and the finalists are judged by a panel of industry leaders (men and women) from a wide range of industry sectors.
