Numerical Methods for Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations can be used for scientific computing and modeling real life problems in science, engineering and technology. Modeling and scientific computing is an ever-expanding area of current research and development, which provides important insight to scientists, engineers and researchers from many different fields of applications. Mathematical modeling is the art of applying mathematics to a real world problem with the purpose to understand the problem better. In many cases it is impossible to get analytical solutions of these mathematical models. Thus, we have to rely on different numerical techniques to approximate the solutions. The objective of this workshop is to give a brief introduction to ordinary and partial differential equations, which are the main tools to model real life problems. Moreover, to approximate the solutions of these differential equations various numerical techniques will be presented. The participants of the workshop also get the opportunity to implement the numerical schemes in the programming language MATLAB and to visualize the numerical solutions. The targeted participants are PhD, M. Phil, Master Students and Faculties of Mathematics, Physics and Engineering, and other technical fields. International participants from Institute Technology Bandung, Indonesia and Colombo University Sri-Lanka are also participating in the workshop.

Resource Persons:  Dr. Martin Bracke, TU Kaiserslautern, Germany  Dr. Christian Nessler, TU Kaiserslautern, Germany  Dr. SSN Perera, Colombo University, SriLanka  Dr. Yudi Soeharyadi, Technical University Bandung, Indonesia
