Empowering Hospice Care through Innovation™ A Year in Review As another year comes to a close and a new one begins, HospiScript would like to reflect back on the prior year and major milestones, while quickly looking forward towards major initiatives in the year to come. Most importantly, HospiScript would like to take a moment and thank each of you for all the wonderful things you and your organization does each day taking care of patients. It is such a joy to partner and work alongside organizations such as yours. Since our inception in 1995, we have valued and nurtured the local pharmacy relationships that are essential to your services. Though there are many pharmacy benefits managers (PBMs) in the market, many of them have come and gone over time. HospiScript has built itself on a solid foundation and has a proven track record and longevity in the hospice market. As other PBMs begin to “promise” solutions to the market during a period of anxiety in the hospice industry, understand that HospiScript, along with our parent company, Catamaran is poised to deliver new innovation to support our partners and reinvest in their growth. We would like to take a moment and elaborate on a few new items as well as revisit a couple that have launched this past year. HospiMobile™ HospiScript partners have told us how important easy to use, care focused tools are to their day to day lives. HospiMobileTM is a mobile interface compatible with most smart phones. At a quick glance, HospiMobileTM will offer hospice clinicians the same great access to HospiDirectTM, without the need for a computer or Wi‐Fi. Enrolling or discharging patients, adding or discontinuing medications, and quick access to HospiScript’s clinical review are just a couple of the features you’ll come to enjoy with HospiMobileTM. In addition to HospiDirectTM functionality, HospiMobileTM will provide access to items like the pharmacy locator and education seminar registration. HospiMobileTM is currently in beta testing with a couple of HospiScript clients and should be available for all clients by the middle of the first quarter of 2014. E‐Prescribing Solutions Patient symptoms don’t just occur when your hospice medical director is by a fax machine! HospiScript understands the pressures you face each day, which is why HospiScript went out and developed a preferred partnership with a pioneer in the e‐ prescribing space, DrFirst. With this newly formed partnership, HospiScript and DrFirst will bring each of our hospice programs e‐prescribing functionality through HospiDirect™ and HospiMobileTM. Additional information regarding e‐prescribing will be available soon, so if you’re looking for an e‐prescribing solution, contact your HospiScript Account Manager.
HospiScript.com & HospiDirectTM Updates HospiScript recently announced the release of newly designed functionality with both of these tools. With regards to our website www.hospiscript.com, we are proud to discuss the following: 1) During 2014, we will be communicating a new single sign on strategy that will streamline access to our online tools. 2) Adverse Drug Event Reporting: This functionality was released in 2013 and gives our hospice partners the ability to report ADE’s online in a secure fashion uploading to the FDA’s MedWatch site when appropriate. 3) Wound Care at End of Life: This new resource is freely available to all of our hospice partners in an electronic manner and print copies can be ordered at a discounted rate using the promo code found on the webpage. 4) Palliative Care Consultant 4th Edition will make its debut in 2014. In addition, we are pleased to announce the newly created Pediatric Palliative Care Consultant for those programs who are taking care of children at end of life. HospiDirectTM will also see advancements this year around: 1) Conversion and enhancements of logic around the CMS adopted language surrounding Principal Diagnosis, Related Conditions, & Unrelated Conditions. 2) Conversion to ICD 10 which goes into effect October 1st, 2014. 3) Enhancements to the HospiDirect™ patient Allergy Checker 4) And many more! HospiRxMonitorTM Let’s not forget 2013 brought a major milestone with the release of HospiRxMonitorTM. HospiRxMonitorTM was the first innovative designed reporting tool that captured data from multiple sources and used clinically driven scenario logic to provide our hospice programs analyses otherwise not available. HospiRxMonitorTM kicked off in 2013 and our hospice partners are actively using reports such as medication coverage audits and quality assessments of patients using opioids without laxatives. This year will bring new reports to our hospice partners and in particular, advancements for those hospice programs using HospiScript’s clinical services. Regulatory Changes As you are all aware, there are significant changes coming to the hospice industry that starts with additional reporting requirements (CR8358) involving the hospice claims all the way down to changes in the philosophy of medication coverage and who is the payor. We want each of our hospice partners to know that HospiScript is committed to continue to do everything we can to support you and your mission. HospiScript will be working with each of our partners on the most effective method of delivery of this data. We have partnered with various electronic medical record companies and are working diligently to ensure this process can be a smooth as possible. We encourage you to review the following: 1) Does your hospice receive any invoices for medications outside of HospiScript? If yes, please contact your account manager right away so we can determine the best next steps unless you plan to manually enter this data onto the claim.
2) Please reach out to your EMR and ask them to contact HospiScript so that we can ensure they have all the needed requirements to load the data for your hospice claims. Because of our organizational structure and the strength of our parent company, Catamaran, HospiScript is positioned to react to any of the coming changes and offer you innovative and cost effective solutions. Please continue to watch for HospiScript press releases and updates to the client section of the website dedicated to the CMS changes, located under Hospi‐UTM. As always, please reach out to your account manager should you have any questions. Regards, Gregory M.
