Mehika Sikand, V-A Name of Book: A Seer of Lime Genre: Folktale The story is about a person who works at Akbar’s courtyard. There's another person who wanted a job with Akbar. One day the person who worked at the courtyard came to the same shop to buy a seer of lime. The shopkeeper asked why? When he heard that the king had told him to do so, he advised him to take a tub of curd instead. When this worker went back to the King, he was commanded to drink it all up! The next day Akbar got a great shock seeing him alive! Akbar called the shopkeeper who had advised the worker there and then and asked him to join the court as he wanted clever people like him. When Akbar asked him his name, with great respect he bowed his head and said "Birbal, your majesty"! The main characters of this story are Akbar, Birbal accompanied by the courtiers. The story revolved around Birbal’s intelligence. Their expressions and actions shaped this lovely story. I was hooked by this story because it tells us about history and I love history. Also it was a great idea to tell Birbal's name in the end and keep his identity a surprise.
