Simulation has been used as a tool in engineering sciences for a considerable time now. The construction of a simulation model of a system under investigation makes it possible to replace experimentation with the real system by simulation. Simulation has found applications ir1 such engineering sciences as aerospace, nuclear power, chemical processing etc. The models used vary over a wide range from static to dynamic, from discrete to continuous and from deterministic to stochastic models. This paper presents a brief discussion of simulation in engineering sciences as an introduction to the different sections of the book. 1.
