Rocklin High School AP Environmental Science (APES) Mr. Caminiti G-1 [email protected] Class Overview AP Environmental Science is a college level laboratory course that aims to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world. The course aims to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and humanmade, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them. Course Prerequisites Students taking APES must have received a B or better in Biology. Course Materials Environmental Science: Earth as a Living Planet, Botkin and Keller. 6th ed Laboratory Investigations: AP Environmental Science, William Molnar; Ap Advantage ™ The Cartoon Guide to the Environment, Gonick and Outwater Course Planner: The following is a list of chapters and topics and Exam dates. This schedule is an estimation with the goal of completing all material prior to May 13 which is the APES exam. The 1st semester final as well as the preAP final exam will be comprehensive. All chapters should be read prior to coming to class. There will be daily reading quizzes to encourage you to read. The AP test in May is not optional. Missing the test results in a NC! Important AP INFORMATION! • Students are given three weeks after school begins to drop an AP class. • Students are required to take the AP exam in May. The fee for each AP exam is $87.00. • •

Information regarding Fee Waivers can be picked up the Counseling Center. AP Exam fees must be paid by December 1st. Check should be made payable to Rocklin High School and students can turn in their fee to the Student Store. If fee is not paid by December 1st, a $20.00 late fee per test will be charged. Any student who does not pay the AP exam fee before leaving for winter break will be dropped from the AP course.
