PREFACE Employee Performance Evaluation (EPE) is one of the most important functions of Human Resource Management that is one of the most important functional areas of Organizational Management or Business Administration. This critical function is being taught at Sri Lankan Universities as an essential topic of the course titled Human Resource Management or Personnel management for Bachelors Degree Programmes such as BSc Business Administration (Special), BSc Business Administration (General), BSc Human Resource Management, BSc Business Administration (HRM Specialisation), BBA HRM and B.Com and Masters Degree Programmes such as MBA, MSc and MA Labour Studies. Also currently EPE is being taught as a separate subject/course for BSc Human Resource Management Degree and BSc Business Administration (HRM Specialisation) offered by the University of Sri Jayewardenepura To my understanding, unfortunately in Sri Lanka there is no single source or book containing applications in EPE, in particular suitable for Sri Lankan context that Sri Lankan University Lecturers can use for their instruction purposes and Sri Lanka undergraduate and postgraduate students can use for their learning purposes. This state has unfavourably affected the quality of teaching and effectiveness of learning EPE. Therefore, my purpose of compiling this type of book is to develop a source containing applications such as Skill Builders, Critical Incidents and Cases in EPE so that Sri Lankan university lecturers and instructors of institutes, technical colleges and professional institutes can use in order to enhance the quality of their teaching and effectiveness of students’ learning, specially at Diploma level and Degree level education to a significant extent. May this book contribute to enhance quality of teaching and effectiveness of learning in EPE! This is my heart- felt wish. Some of the skill builders, critical incidents and cases in the book were developed by using actual Sri Lankan information and some applications are hypothetical. I am indeed grateful to those who helped me to get actual information for the development of some applications.
