CALL FOR PAPERS Multimedia Tools and Applications http://www.springer.com/journal/11042 Editor-in-Chief: Prof. Borko Furht
Special issue title: Artificial Intelligence in Multimedia Computing Introduction In the last decade, artificial intelligence technology has attracted tremendous interest from both academia and industry. Artificial intelligence is an emerging collection of methodology that imitates human intelligence, such as deep learning, neural networks, fuzzy systems, and evolutionary methods, etc. Recent advances in multimedia sensing and computing technologies are fueling a new wave of user demands for more interactive, realistic and immersive visual experiences. This has attracted massive research efforts devoted to address challenges in the area of multimedia computing. Artificial intelligence technology has been widely used in recent years to address complex and challenging realworld image and video processing problems, including visual surveillance, healthcare, smart cities, and security. This special issue aims to provide a collection of high quality research articles that address the broad challenges in both theoretical and application aspects of artificial intelligence in multimedia computing. Both original research papers and review articles would be of great interest.
Topics Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: •
•
[Area I] Artificial intelligence o Deep network o Soft computing methodologies o Neural networks o Swarm intelligence o Machine learning o Evolutionary computing o Fuzzy systems o Bayesian networks [Area II] Multimedia Computing o Image/video processing, registration, restoration and enhancement o Image/video analytics, object detection and tracking, event recognition, behavior understanding
o Image/video compression, coding and transmission o Image/video processing in biomedical sciences, geosciences and remote sensing, and other applications
Submission guidelines Papers will be evaluated based on their originality, presentation, relevance and novelty, as well as their suitability to the special issue. The submitted papers must be written in excellent English and describe original research which has not been published nor currently under review by other journals or conferences. Previously published conference papers should be clearly identified by the authors (at the submission stage) and an explanation should be provided how such papers have been extended to be considered for this special issue. All manuscripts and any supplementary material should be submitted via online submission system http://mtap.editorialmanager.com, choosing the article type "1098 -- Artificial Intelligence in Multimedia Computing". Important dates Submission of manuscripts: First revision notification: Submission of revised papers: Final acceptance/rejection notice:
