What to Bring
We recommend you research the temperature of your destination before you start packing. When it is chilly in Tasmania, it might be 30 degrees in Darwin. For more suggestions, check out our Frequently Asked Questions at www.aatkings.com/faq
Vehicles
Subject to a minimum number of clients, AAT Kings reserves the right to operate tours on a smaller vehicle with a Driver Guide. In the case of breakdown and other unforeseen circumstances, the operator reserves the right to substitute vehicles other than specified, to ensure the operation of a tour. These coaches will be modern touring vehicles but may not have some of the features described.
Special Meals
Please advise AAT Kings of any special dietary requirements at time of booking. Note that this will be on a request basis only, as AAT Kings cannot guarantee the availability of special meal types.

with an adjustable handle and wheels will not fit in the overhead compartments and cannot be accepted as hand luggage. Maximum weight of the suitcase not to exceed 23kg (50lbs). We are required by strict Government vehicle weight regulations to enforce and adhere to this limit. If your luggage exceeds this limit, we ask that you make alternative arrangements for the excess to be forwarded to the termination point of your tour. We suggest that you have wheels on your suitcase, as there are certain places where assistance is not available (e.g. railway stations and cruise terminals). All luggage and personal effects are at all times and in all circumstances at the risk of the tour participant. Luggage insurance is strongly recommended. Airlines may impose stricter weight and size limits for luggage and may also charge fees for checked baggage, including the first checked bag. Milford Sound Overnight Cruise
AAT Kings cannot guarantee private facilities on all overnight cruises. Luggage for the cruise is limited to one small overnight travel bag per person. Third Party Suppliers
Third party excursions such as Scenic Flights, Boat Cruises, Helicopter Flights, Cable Car Rides, some 4WD Tours, White Water Rafting, Camel Rides, Hot Air Ballooning, Rail, Rural Homestay Options are not operated by AAT Kings Tours, nor by persons or companies associated with AAT Kings Tours. These activities may involve inherent risk of injury, death, accident, delay and loss, and clients assume all such risk with regard to any misadventure, death, injury, delay or loss which occurs during, or as a result of, any such activity.
Kings Canyon Safety Information
During the hotter months temperatures can reach and exceed 36°C or 97°F. At these times the Watarrka National Park Rangers strongly advise that visitors do not take part in the Kings Canyon Rim Climb. In this drier desert climate heat exhaustion over these hotter months is a very high possibility and a danger in such remote regions. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of our clients we offer a guided walk along the Kings Canyon creek-bed as a suitable alternative on such days.
Top End Wet Weather Information
During the wet season in the Top End of the Northern Territory (November to April) heavy rain and flooding can preclude access to Ubirr, East Alligator River and Arnhem Land. Alternative touring will be arranged.
Uluru Climb Information
Uluru is a sacred site for the Anangu people and they prefer that visitors do not climb it. With this in mind, we do not recommend it. Throughout the year the Uluru (Ayers Rock) climb may close unexpectedly due to Aboriginal cultural reasons or inclement weather conditions prevailing at the time such as high temperatures, rain, strong winds, storms, low lying clouds or insufficient light.
Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park & Kakadu National Park Entry Fees
The entry fee for Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park is $25 per adult & $12.50 per child and is valid for 3 consecutive days. When taking multiple Short Breaks or Day Tours over 3 consecutive days in Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park you only need to pay the fee once. We care
Here at AAT Kings we encourage the sustainable development of tourism in partnership with the Treadright Foundation – a not-forprofit organisation established by The Travel Corporation and its family of brands. The foundation has helped support more than 35 sustainable tourism projects worldwide. Specifically within Australia and New Zealand AAT Kings is proud to support a number of important projects with a focus on wildlife conservation.
Tassie Devils
AAT Kings has joined forces with The Save the Tasmanian Devil Appeal to protect them from the fatal Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD) epidemic. Our donation supports the husbandry (management, care and feeding) of five Devils in critical vaccine research undertaken by the University of Tasmania, Menzies Institute for Medical Research.
Kiwi birds
AAT Kings supports the conservation of New Zealand’s iconic native bird, the endangered kiwi. We contribute to the Rainbow Springs Kiwi Breeding Program in Rotorua to hatch and raise chicks, perform health checks, daily monitoring, and research into kiwi incubation and rearing. We help Rainbow Springs raise awareness of the protection of these precious birds and play a vital role in their survival.
Little Penguins
AAT Kings supported the world’s leading research facility for Little Penguins on Phillip Island in Victoria, including the purchase of a weighbridge to monitor penguin health and habits. Interpretive signs were also erected to educate visitors about the environment of this important penguin colony.
Koalas
We’ve teamed up with Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors to support the Koala Rehabilitation Project at their Wildlife Hospital – the country’s busiest wildlife facility. Along with koala rehabilitation, we support the building of ecofriendly habitats to protect the sick and orphaned. We even have an AAT Kings Mascot, ‘Koala Sam’.
Our ecofriendly coaches
Taking a coach is an environmentally sustainable means of transportation. Coaches use significantly less fuel per person than an average sized car or hybrid. One coach can displace up to 56 cars from the road.
