Foresight and Evidential Reasoning in Child Protection Cases 28th May 2010 Workshop Oxford Centre for Socio-Legal Studies

Manor Road Building University of Oxford Foresee-ability in child protection: This interdisciplinary workshop examines the psychological, legal, philosophical, practical, and policy debates central to the role of intent in child protection cases. Organisers: Dr. Michelle Cowley and Dr. Sonia Macleod, in association with the ESRC and the Foundation for Law, Justice and Society.

High profile cases, such as the Baby P case, raised genuine concerns about how evidence of foresee-ability may be key to preventing devastating outcomes for children. Data from three large-scale studies examining how juror members of the public attribute responsibility for familial homicide cases are reported.
