IPv6 – Are you ready for the transition? Experts have been predicting the exhaustion of IPv4 addressing since 2003. It will however become a reality for some organisations over the next 12 -18 months. Everyone will need to consider the implications of transitioning to IPv6, although the speed of adoption and transition will vary between companies and sectors. Many government led organisations are already working on their transition plans, this in turn will have a knock–on effect on businesses that provide services to those government agencies. Global Knowledge currently offers three publicly scheduled courses that are designed to provide engineers with the knowledge required to successfully complete this transition. One is a Cisco offering, the other two have been designed by Global Knowledge. Our experienced trainers are also on hand to discuss your requirements should you feel that you need a more bespoke offering.

IP6FD – IPv6 Fundamentals, Design and Deployment This five-day course provides network engineers and technicians who are working in the enterprise sector with the knowledge and skills that are needed to study and configure the IP version 6 (IPv6) features of Cisco IOS Software. This course provides an overview of IPv6 technologies; covers IPv6 design and implementation; describes IPv6 operations, addressing, routing, services, and transition; and describes the deployment of IPv6 in enterprise and service provider networks. Hands-on labs and case studies are used to provide possible deployment scenarios.

GKIPV6MIG - Safe Migration from IPv4 to IPv6 This course provides engineers and technicians with the knowledge and skills required for the safe migration of networks from IPv4 to IPv6. This course begins with IPv6 basics but builds over the 3 days to incorporate the more advanced topics. Initial design of the enterprise network must be accurate and topics such as the use of DHCP, DNS and the integration of IPv6 in an IPv4 network are discussed to ensure the correct decisions are made at the design stage. As much as possible is incorporated into the 3 days including the possibilities of addressing, auto configuration with SLAAC and DHCP, use of DNS, configuration rules for an enterprise network, the configuration of Cisco Routers, Win7 clients and Win2008R2 Servers for IPv6. IPv6 transition mechanisms including tunnels like ISATAP, TEREDO and 6to4 as well as NAT64 are incorporated. Hands-on labs have been incorporated into the class to ensure delegates get plenty of practice with the most important protocols for the Client/Server (SLAAC, DHCPv6 and DNS), IPv6 routing protocols OSPF and EIGRP, first hop redundancy protocols HSRP and GLBP, and Tunnelling with dynamic ISATAP Tunnels.

IPV6ADV – Advanced IPv6 This advanced class follows on from where GKIPv6 MIG finishes, it is recommended that delegates have attended GKIPv6MIG beforehand. This course will look at IPv6 Services, IPv6 Enabled Routing Protocols, IPv6 Multicast Services, IPv6 and Service Providers and IPv6 Security.

Security A vital component of Cisco’s Borderless Networks Architecture Security Matters, Now More Than Ever Network security was traditionally designed to protect resources inside the network from threats and malware from outside the network. However, today’s network is much more complex, the advancement of technology and our desire to connect through numerous devices from anywhere at any time has posed new challenges for IT and Security Managers. Businesses still need to defend themselves against network threats, protect valuable data and resources and implement the necessary controls for regulatory compliance, but the line between inside and outside is not as clear. Cisco’s Security offerings provide the skills required to protect those networks both from a generic technology perspective and from a product centric skill requirement.

Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security) Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks. With a CCNA Security certification, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to develop a security infrastructure, recognise threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats. The CCNA Security curriculum emphasises core security technologies, including the installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices, and competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure. Service Provider A service provider's agility and flexibility in service delivery are critical to its long-term success. Most large service providers need the flexibility to offer residential, business, mobile and wholesale services. Next Generation Networks (NGN) are being implemented globally as a means to radically change the cost base, agility and service capabilities of Service Providers: the key enabling technologies include IP, MPLS, ADSL, Metro-Ethernet, SIP and H.248. The Cisco IP Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) architecture provides the intelligent, secure and scalable infrastructure that serves as the foundation of the collaborative and consumer led network of the future. From this flexible and scalable base, service providers can build their unique business models, expand their service portfolios and transform themselves into providers of a network and service that enhances the way we live work and play.

74 www.globalknowledge.net

Service Provider Expert Level Certification has been available for a number of years, but there has never been a comprehensive certification track dedicated to Service Providers. Transitioning from CCIP to CCNP SP What does this mean for the Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional - CCIP? CCIP will be retired. No new CCIP certifications will be issued after the 29th of October 2012. Anyone looking for professional level Service Provider certification will need to take the CCNP SP Certification. Any CCIP certification recently achieved will remain valid for 3 years. Existing CCIP certifications can only be recertified up until the 28th of October 2012.

Why is Cisco retiring the CCIP Certification? CCIP has been a valid certification for nearly 10 years. During that time Cisco has created/released numerous service provider carriergrade products, introduced a new Cisco IOS XR operating system and released a host of new core, transport and edge technologies. Hence with all this change the Cisco CCIP certification was due for a major update or redesign.

Class-Connect HD At Global Knowledge, we pride ourselves on listening to customers and providing solutions to business needs. Providing quality instructor led experiences whilst reducing travel and subsistence costs are key focus areas at present whether the customer driver is time, cost or the green agenda! This is particularly challenging in certain geographical regions or where the course is niche and the numbers requiring the course to run are limited. In these situations, without travel and associated expenses, customers are forced to look at expedient modalities such as e-Learning or virtual deliveries, where they exist, to address an immediate requirement. We all recognise that this isn’t always a premium experience or indeed a good environment for learning and hence we have invested time and resources in a new solution to create an interactive and high-quality classroom alternative – Class-Connect HD.

LIVE CLASSROOM

REMOTE CLASSROOM

Delegates have the same high quality experience as an instructor-led event. HD quality audio and video connect the classroom to ensure a ‘real time’ experience.

Delegates have a clear view of the instructor and the other delegates on one screen. By using an interactive smart-board, they can view the presentation and notes simultaneously on another screen or on their monitor.

LIVE CLASSROOM Where the learning requires group interaction the camera positions are primed to be able to allow both groups to face each other to further promote the environment for discussion and debate.

REMOTE CLASSROOM The tutor and delegates in the live classroom can see, hear and interact with the remote classroom at all times.
