What do you need for a Remote Desktop connection? You no longer need a VPN connection to remotely access your computer. Remote Desktop gateway will provide you a secure and easy way to access your work PC from home. You will need: 1) 2)

The Computer name of the machine that you want to connect to A Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 machine

You no longer need to leave your computer on to access it remotely, either. Put your computer to sleep or turn it off (yes, turn it off!) when leaving the office to save money and help reduce College’s carbon footprint. You can turn it back on (again yes, you can!) remotely using the instructions here, whenever or wherever you want: http://www.imperial.ac.uk/ict/green/wakemypc If you opted out of automatic power saving, please opt back in using the link below: https://www.imperial.ac.uk/ict/powersaving/default.aspx Getting the Computer name of your machine From your college computer (XP): Click Start > My Info
