Text: Applied Calculus, Tan, Brooks/Cole, 9th edition, 2012, University of Kansas edition with WebAssign access code. Prerequisites: MATH 101 or MATH 104 or two years high school algebra and a score of 26 or more on Enhanced ACT Mathematics, or a qualifying score on the mathematics placement test. Not open to students with credit in Math 121. Additional Materials: A TI-84 Plus or equivalent. Course Outline: A timetable for the course may be found here. Exams: There will be two in-class exams, a common midterm and a common final exam. Please see the timetable and coordinator's page for more information about the common midterm and final. Exams must be taken as scheduled. Gateway Exam: Information on the MATH 115 Gateway may be found here. Homework: Online homework will be assigned on a weekly basis through WebAssign, which you can access through Blackboard. There will also be offline assignments. Homework should be done in pencil and on loose-leaf paper with the problems done in order. Solutions should be clearly indicated, and the work used to obtain them must be detailed and legible. Please staple your assignments if needed. Final Grade: The total course grade will be computed as follows: Final Exam: 300 points Midterm Exam: 200 points Gateway Exam: 100 points In-Class Exams: 200 points total Online Homework: 100 points Homework, Quizzes & Projects: 100 points Total: 1000 points. 900 points will guarantee an A, 800 a B, 700 a C and 600 a D. Plus/minus grades will not be assigned for MATH 115.
