1 Introduction 1.1

This document provides information on the Data Explorers Toolkit Cleanup Tool. It covers: Installation information Usage information 1.2
Scope
This document covers functionality for the Data Explorers Toolkit Cleanup Tool version 1.1. The Cleanup Tool can be used to delete all traces of the Data Explorers Toolkit from a system. This should only be done as a last resort measure, when there are problems performing a normal uninstall from the control panel. 1.3

Administrative rights to the system are required to run the Cleanup Tool.

Installation Procedure
Basic installation instructions are as follows: Logon to your computer with administrator rights Ensure Excel is closed Go to http://www.dataexplorers.com/toolkit-prior-versions Download the software listed under the DxlCleanupTool heading (click the "Download" button) When prompted choose Run Choose the folder you want to unzip the files to and click Unzip

Using DxlCleanupTool
Note: Data Explorers recommend you backup any important files, folders or registry settings prior to using the Cleanup Tool. Basic usage instructions are as follows: To use the DxlCleanupTool, locate the folder you unzipped files to at 2.1 Installation Procedure. Run DxlCleanUpTool.exe from this folder. Select the checkbox next to "Test Mode" to perform a test cleanup (highly recommended), then click "Clean-Up". Ensure the Installation Folder references the folder where the Toolkit is installed (Default: C:\Program Files\Data Explorers Ltd\Data Explorers Toolkit).

Figure 2: Data Explorers Toolkit Cleanup Tool – Test Mode You will be prompted to retain or remove user-created files. Click Yes to keep these files or No to remove them. Click Cancel to abort. Note: These represent files located in the Data Explorers Toolkit folder in the user's My Document folder. It is strongly advised that you backup any files that you want to keep from this folder before you proceed as an additional protection.

There are buttons which allow you to clear the log, copy the log to the clipboard, or save the log to a file. When satisfied with the results and ready to proceed with the cleanup, repeat the above steps without "Test Mode" selected.

Data Explorers Toolkit Cleanup Tool is a tool that will remove all traces of the Data Explorers Toolkit from a user's system
Toolkit
Data Explorers Toolkit is the component that allows Excel to communicate with the Toolkit server via queries
Navigator
Data Explorers Toolkit Navigator is the component that allows users to visually interact with the Toolkit in the form of an Excel add-in
Installation Folder
The location where the Data Explorers Toolkit has been installed. By default this is "C:\Program Files\Data Explorers Ltd\Data Explorers Toolkit"
My Documents folder
The user’s My Documents folder. In Windows XP this is usually "C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%My Documents". In Windows 7 this is usually "C:\Users\%Username%\Documents"
Data Explorers Toolkit Folder
The Data Explorers Toolkit folder under the user’s My Documents. Application logs are stored in this folder
Add-in Express folder
The Add-in Express folder under the user’s My Documents. Navigator logs are stored in this folder
User’s Temp Folder
Temporary folder for the logged on user. This can be found by clicking Start then Run, typing %TEMP% and pressing Enter
