Welcome to the Suffolk Walking Festival

YOU YOU ARE ARE

INVITED TO A

PARTY!!! 2017 marks The Suffolk Walking Festivals 10th Birthday and we would love it if you joined us to help celebrate this wonderful event.

Heath or speed dating where you could meet new friends or partner. We are sure that the programme has a walk that will take your fancy.

We have over 100 walks on offer, providing the opportunity to explore the wonderful and diverse Suffolk countryside; stroll around medieval towns, ambles along the coast or wanders through our stunning countryside and enjoy the landscapes of our two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Families, we have a selection of walks for you around the half term period from golden mile walks between parks and museums in Lowestoft to activity routes in Ipswich and Sudbury and even a trail or two at Jimmy’s Farm. We are sure that they will be a great day out for all the family.

The Classic and Mega Challenge walks return, offering walkers the opportunity to explore the Stour Valley; a 63-mile route crossing the Suffolk countryside and dipping into Essex. Choose either to complete the route over a leisurely 4 days or if you really want to push yourself why not try it in 30 hours!

Not forgetting our launch day with a variety of 10 different walks to try at Sutton Hoo, perhaps you would enjoy being one of the first to test their latest trail which will have its debut at the launch or perhaps the gruesome grave walk is more for you?

With a variety of themed walks from Duelling Dragons in Sudbury, bird watching as you stroll around Westleton

We look forward to seeing you as you celebrate with us, make new friends, have fun, and perhaps enjoy a slice of cake or two!

A message from our patron…. I’m really looking forward to this year’s Walking Festival and very proud to be part of it as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. Over the decade the festival has grown hugely and now there are walks across the whole county and for all sorts of people - there’s bound to be something for you whether its history or nature you love or just the chance to have a sociable stroll. And if you love a longer walk you’re not forgotten either because there are also the Challenge and Mega challenge walks again this year! In these days, when we’re being encouraged to be healthy, walking is one of the things that most of us can do without it costing a fortune or being too physically demanding. All you need is some suitable footwear and a raincoat – just in case! I love the way walking gets me up close and personal to the county I live in – whether it’s strolling through the town or plodding along the coast. This year there are over 100 walks programmed so far – so have a look and book yourself in!

Lesley Dolphin
