3. The Echoes

A high altitude garden which sees quite a bit of snow means this garden is weeks behind and will have all the early spring flowers out where others may have faded. A level 5-acre arboretum, with crab apple varieties, heritage apples, snow gums and birches are among many tree species too numerous to name. A camellia house and potted camellias surrounding the house are a fine feature not to be missed. Old rose varieties abound and berries are tended with love to make jam and pies.

A wonderful established farm garden with vistas across the vineyard and Glenroy Hills. The gum lined drive leads to a large expanse of deciduous trees towering over borders filled with bulbs, perennials and shrubs. Circular rose gardens and box hedge borders surround the house and camellias use the house as protection to flourish. This gently sloping garden also boasts a magnificent weeping elm and mulberry and shows the love and dedication afforded. Carol and Graham Grant 75 Maginnitys Gap Road, Glenroy

Debra and Paul Williams 2235 Batlow Road, Laurel Hill

4. Lakelands

2. Rhennhaven

A classic post and rail fence lined with agapanthus, towered over by two magnificent white gums greets visitors to Lakelands, a beautiful farm garden. The views from the rose arbour take in the lake and Glenroy Hills, offering a central place to admire the many and varied species of conifers. Box hedge and standard roses lend a more formal air, while deciduous trees and shrubs frame the garden and provide a backdrop for borders and gently sloping lawns.

Set with the bush as its surroundings this garden has been planted to reflect the distinct seasons. Meandering paths lead past a host of spring flowering shrubs including camellias, viburnum, rhododendrons and various natives. Trees overlook the borders and provide protection while groundcovers and bulbs take up every available space. Arbours of Virginia creeper and clematis add charm while fruit trees, including citrus, berries and the veggie garden provide a practical air.

7. Rose Hill

Evolving over 50 years this park like garden has English Oaks, Italian Alders, Canadian Maples, Lilly Pilly and a fine Tulip tree to name a few. Unique sculptures together with a variety of roses and camellias enhance the garden setting. A Manchurian Pear walk dedicated to grandchildren is a recent major work and creates a special energy to the garden. Raised vegetable beds and beautiful lawn dotted with English daises are among the numerous features of this magnificent garden. Colin and Dianne Hardy 2026 Jingellic Road, Munderoo

For over 40 years this garden has developed with love and care and now boasts very large camellia, rhododendron and azalea varieties. Red, pink and white magnolias tower over tended lawns and provide protection for many fruit trees including citrus. A must see for food growers, the large vegetable garden provides most of the kitchen needs and is a feature of this garden along with the collection of 460 rose varieties which is sure to impress any visitor.

A wonderful town garden which has a simple yet effective low maintenance design. Clever use of pebbles and plant choices such as cacti and agapanthus also make for low water usage. Palms and tree ferns hide in quiet corners and the use of tree stumps, ironwork and ornaments, especially owls, adds another dimension to this garden. A quilt airing, large world globe collection and various antiquities will also be on view at this garden.

6. Burraleigh

A fine example of what can be achieved in town on a small block of land. This garden greets the visitor with all different shapes and sizes of clipped conifers. These form a boundary to the property beyond which are magnificent standard and bush roses set in a border with paved access. Through the carport to a rock lined deciduous tree and shrub fence line there is a view off to the Snowy Mountains, with more roses and a sweet pea border sure to delight.

Magnificent deciduous and evergreen trees tower above the themed gardens while a collection of smaller weeping trees and dwarf maples are among the favourites. From the oriental garden with stone features to the walled Mexican patio which abounds with succulents, the variety in this garden will amaze. The Australian native garden harbors many small bird species and an African garden adds to the collection. A culmination of 30 years of love and dedication.
