In order for your child to be successful in school, it is important that they practice reading, especially in the summer. This summer fifth graders are required to read two chapter books (over 80 pages). Series books are a great way to motivate reluctant readers. Read any of the DCF books for next year this summer. In order to vote in April, you need to read 5 books on the current list. Get started reading this summer! Fifth graders will need to write a short book report for both books. Please use the form below for the book report. Mrs. Finn is an excellent source for good books to read over the summer along with the librarians at your local library. Also ask your 4th grade teacher or myself for some suggestions. Some authors I like are: Avi, Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, Andrew Clements, Sharon Creech, Roald Dahl, Kate DiCamillo, Jean Fritz, Carl Hiassen, Johanna Hurwitz, E.L. Konigsburg, Ingrid Law, C.S.
