Composer Notes Angel of Mine Angels are present throughout salvation history as messengers from heaven to earth. This song is for younger children (kindergarten and first grade). It combines a childlike need for protection with the Church’s veneration of angels as guardians and guides for our earthly journey. The psalmist reminds us that God commands the angels to guard us in all our ways (Psalm 91:11). During the season of fall, angels are celebrated twice in the liturgical calendar: September 29, the feast of Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, and October 2, the feast of the Guardian Angels. The feast of the Annunciation is on March 25, when we hear the angelic greeting of Gabriel to Mary, “Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you” (Luke 1:28).
