2017 Ross McKee Piano Competition
Celebrating its twentieth year, the reknowned Bay Area piano competition for high school students once again recognizes and rewards young talent.
ELIGIB I L I T Y 1.
Applicant must be enrolled in a local high school or in an accredited home-school program equivalent.

Applicant must be a resident of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma county.

Previous first-prize winners are not eligible.
APPLI CAT I O N P RO C E D U R E Application package must include: 1.
Audition CD: A good-quality CD performance of at least two works from the standard repertoire, representing two contrasting styles and periods, not to exceed fifteen (15) minutes in length. Label CD with repertoire only — no applicant name.

Application fee: $25 non-refundable fee, payable to The Ross McKee Foundation.

M. - 1 P. M. Judges will select semi-finalists from the CDs submitted with the applications. The selected applicants will be notified in late January. Semi-finalists will repeat the recorded materials on their CDs in a live audition for three judges in the Recital Hall of the San Francisco Conservatory. All works must be memorized. It is not necessary to provide scores. Six finalists will be selected by the judges; all semi-finalists will receive the judges’ notes on their performances. F INA L RO UN D: S AT U R D AY, M AY 2 0 , 2 0 1 7 | 7 P. M. - 1 0 P. M. The final round of the competition will be held on May 20, 2017, in the Recital Hall of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. This round will be open to the public. Finalists will perform a program of at least fifteen but no more than twenty minutes from the standard repertoire including a short, required work. The required work will be announced by March 1. Finalists may include repertoire from their original CD audition. Judges will accept a movement from a multi-movement work or several short works. The goal is to display artistry in a variety of styles. Winners will be announced on stage immediately following the competition. The first prize is $3,000; second prize is $2,000; and third prize is $1,000.
