DLSU COLLEGE OF SCIENCE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP IN THE DOCTOR OF MEDICINE PROGRAM OF THE DLS HEALTH SCIENCES INSTITUTE
The De La Salle Health Sciences Institute (DLS HSI) in Dasmariñas City, Cavite will award two academic scholarships in the Doctor of Medicine Program to qualified applicants recommended by the DLSU College of Science Dean. The scholarship covers 100% of the total fees including miscellaneous and other fees. Recipients shall continue to enjoy these benefits until completion of the degree, provided they pass the yearly performance academic review of the Collegiate Scholarship Committee of DLS HSI.
Eligibility Requirements for Applicants 1. Filipino citizenship 2. No grade of 0.0 in any academic course 3. NMAT score in at least the 90th percentile 4. Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (as reflected on the latest transcript of records) 5. Graduating student in any course in the College of Science who will enroll in the medicine proper program at DLS HSI College of Medicine in AY 2013-2014. (Note: BS Human Biology students should be in their last year in the program, i.e., first year at DLS HSI) Application Guidelines 1. Applicants must submit an accomplished application form, transcript of records and NMAT score to the COS Dean’s Office at LS 134. 2. The deadline for application is 3 April 2013. 3. Applications will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. 4. The first round of selection will be based on the modified cGPA (See Selection Criteria below). Minimum modified cGPA grade required is 3.0 5. Qualifiers for the second round of selection will be interviewed. 6. The Selection Committee shall rank the applicants based on academic excellence, interview, essay, and NMAT score. 7. The top two applicants will be recommended by the COS Dean for Academic Scholarship. Results will be announced on 15 April 2013. Selection Criteria 1. Academic excellence This will be based on a modified computation of the cumulative GPA. The rationale is to put emphasis on excellence in science, without disregarding the performance in non-science academic courses, all of which contribute to the holistic development of the individual. Computation is as follows: cGPA in science courses 60% 40% cGPA in non-science academic courses 2. Interview Applicants with a minimum cGPA of 3.0 will be called for a panel interview. 3. Essay on why there is a need for the scholarship for the applicant. This will be the Personal Statement part on the application form to be prepared by the applicant. 4. NMAT score
