Overview Cache is a web-based, Ethereum blockchain-powered, cryptocurrency trading game based on the dynamics of the classic Drugwars computer game.
Drugwars is “a turn-based strategy computer game in which the player assumes the role of a drug dealer engaged in arbitrage. The object of the game is to deal the most drugs to pay off the "loan shark" (who charges interest) by the end of the game and make a profit.”
The original game was created back in 1984 and originally released on MS-DOS, Drugwars has been ported to virtually every platform since the original release - including, notably, TI graphing calculators.
Cache In the game of Cache, instead of trading drugs as in Drugwars, you trade “fictional” cryptocurrencies across exchanges in an 8-bit dystopian cyberpunk universe. Cache is an ERC20 token operated game - in the “arcade coin-op” sense. A single play is currently triggered by burning a single CACHE token. Players’ identities are stored on the blockchain, as well as the game’s global high scores. To prevent cheating, an off-chain game server hosts and verifies the state of each game played.
The Cache Universe Cache is set in an eight-bit cyberpunk dystopian universe - a location only known as the MEGACITY.
The back story: The year is 2084. The traditional world economies have collapsed. All fiat currencies have been replaced by several cryptocurrencies largely owned by technology company cartels. The dominant currency is HASHCOIN, created by the mysterious Kikai Hashimoto.
Plot In Cache, you are a low level megacity dweller nobody cares about, besides the loan sharks (“PLASMADEBT”) from the PLASMANET conglomerate. You owe PLASMADEBT large debt.
One day, rummaging through the garbage, you find a crumpled piece of foiled paper with what appears to be a cryptocurrency private key. You stuff it in your pocket, only to keep looking.
The next day, the only human-run cryptocurrency exchange in MEGACITY, CHARLOTTESWEB, lists a cryptocurrency called CACHE.
Drinking beer in your TENT CITY safe house that night, you decide to give try the private key from the crumpled piece of paper a try.
To your surprise, you find that you now own 50 CACHE tokens! Can you trade your way out of this rat race? While while avoiding corruption, violence, and deceit around every corner?
Game Design The mechanics of the game of Cache are similar to Drugwars, with several notable differences.
Start of Game = 50 CACHE As in Drugwars, you begin the game in debt. The player in Cache also begins the game with 50 CACHE.
SCORE = FIATCOIN
The objective at the end of the round is to hold as much FIATCOIN as possible. FIATCOIN represents your score, and is analogous to dollars in the original game of Drugwars. If your score is above $100,000 you can keep the amount of Hashcoin in your wallet.
Debt = PLASMADEBT The “loan shark” in Cache is PLASMADEBT, located at the PLASMANET exchange. When a player is at PLASMANET they can borrow or pay their debt. For a player’s score to be considered greater than zero, all debt must be paid off by the end of the round.
Rounds = DAYS A round is a collection of turns. In both Drugwars and Cache, this is represented as DAYS. Every time a player travels to a new exchange a day is completed.
Prices for cryptocurrencies are randomly generated every time a player travels to a new exchange. Danger = THE LEAK In some versions of Drugwars, there is a random danger of violence when traveling to a new exchange.
In Cache, the random danger is a “leaking” of your assets aptly nicknamed THE LEAK. To prevent springing a LEAK, players can purchase an in-game cryptocurrency hardware wallet in TENT CITY. Locations = EXCHANGES A location in Cache is a unique, fictional cryptocurrency exchange. A round of Cache is a slightly accelerated version of Drugwars at 15 DAYS. Traditionally, a player has up to 30 DAYS.
The Original Tokens These tokens are traded in the ingame exchanges / chatrooms. The player will get a pulse for their prices by playing the game.

The Game Funnel CACHE is an ERC20 "toll" token - allowing for play in the arcade sense. A successful player can then mint HASHCOIN - another ERC20 token. HASHCOIN can be used to purchase items in shop - such as unique avatars, shirts, chat hacks, or even their very own in-game exchange.
