About Modesto City Schools

Modesto City Schools is made up of an elementary school district (grades K-8) and a high school district (grades 9-12). Both are governed by a single, sevenmember Board of Education elected at large from within the high school district attendance area – approximately 250 square miles – for four-year terms of office. There are 22 elementary schools (grades K-6), four junior high schools (grades 7-8), seven comprehensive high schools (grades 9-12), and an extensive alternative education program within Modesto City Schools. Enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year is expected to reach approximately 30,000 students.
