LIVE (YOU)NITED Johnson County United Way unites the resources of donors, agencies, and volunteers to improve lives in our community. Our mission is to "UNITE" the community - it's right in our name! How do we do this? It takes YOU. YOU donate your time, talent, resources. YOU work at agencies, refer to agencies, serve at agencies. YOU volunteer in the community. If each of us does those things on our own, without the help of others, we will make a difference. But...when we work together - when we build a network of donors, agencies, and volunteers - now we're really making an impact! So, Johnson County, THANK YOU for choosing to LIVE UNITED!
Campaign Kick-off Festival The weather was beautiful and the fun was contagious! Thank you to everyone who came out to our 1st ever Campaign Kick-off Fall Festival on August 26th - it was a huge success! There was a terrific game area for the kids, with games and activities provided by our Allocated Partner Agencies. In addition, WPR organized the 5K that begin the day and Big Brothers Big Sisters hosted a Bug Eating Contest (EWW!). The crowd enjoyed music from local bands, ate scrumptious goodies from the food trucks, and shopped at dozens of vendor booths. Emergency responders from around the community were on hand, displaying equipment, answering questions, and appearing in selfies.

Five Things to Protect Yourself From Ransomware
2.

Back up your data.
Save copies of your data to an external server that won’t be affected even if your main network is attacked. While this won’t protect you from a cyberattack, it will allow you to restore your network and information without paying a ransom. Make sure each employee’s computer is consistently being backed up properly and that you store that data in a safe way.
In June, thousands of businesses fell victim to a computer virus instigated by hackers who took data hostage and required businesses to pay a fee for its return. It was the second massive ransomware attack this year, after the “WannaCry” hackers came for businesses around the world in May.
3.
This recent cyberattack is proof that hackers are getting more advanced and professional. The new strain affects even new computers (whereas WannaCry worked mostly on older systems). Attacks such as these are becoming more common due to the unfortunate combination of the outdated systems found in many businesses and government-grade hacking tools that are widely available.
Install antivirus and antimalware programs.
It might seem like a no-brainer, but installing these programs can stop ransomware and other malware from being downloaded and can find it if a breach occurs. Most of these programs will scan files for ransomware and can block secret installations from malicious activity. Find the best antivirus program for your network and install it on every computer.

This includes not just the ransom payment that the hackers require, but also harmful. Important Than Happiness a study in the June 2017 journal Emotions found "the ability to feel a wide range of positive emotions — what they termed “emotional diversity,” or “emodiversity” — may be the link to better health." While happiness was one of the positive emotions, "the list also included enthusiasm, determination, pride, inspiration, and strength, among others.”
No. 718 October 25, 2017 The stress of being happy. By Gayle Hallgren-Rezac, Judy Thomson, Darcy Rezac
So, at the end of the work day give yourself a pat on the back for your enthusiasm, your determination or grit, your pride, your inspiration or creativity and your strength (physical and mental) and make that part of your happiness equation. If you lead people and are looking for ways to praise and acknowledge your team, remember these qualities—their grit, pride, inspiration, strength, etc.
"Be happy" is the mantra of this decade so do you feel some pressure to excel in the happiness department? “Happiness" is a way too starry-eyed, pixie-dust sprinkled confection for people to strive for day in and day out. Here’s some new research that makes more sense.

Purpose The Greater Warrensburg Area Chamber of Commerce is a community that supports business, values education and empowers leaders.
The Chamber Flash is a twice-monthly email publication, out on the FIRST and THIRD Fridays of each month. It’s a great way for Chamber members to share information about their businesses! It also keeps members up to date with member benefits, networking events and other activities. Space in the Chamber Flash is an included member benefit for Chamber members only. E-mail your print ready ad in JPG format to
[email protected] by noon Wednesday for Friday publication. You must resubmit your flyer each week you would like it published. Non-members, upon their request, receive this publication as a courtesy service.
The Chamber Flash is compiled and written by Communications Coordinator Amanda Mankin.
