Refer to the Cisco Feature Navigator for past and current version information about the correct Cisco IOS Software image with support for Cisco SRST. Cisco SRST 3.3 is currently supported with Cisco IOS Release 12.3(14)T and requires the Cisco IOS IP Voice Feature Set or higher. The Cisco 2800 and 3800 SRST bundles offer a Cisco IOS Software feature set upgrade using the dynamic configuration tool. For further SRST specifications, including the maximum number of phones supported per platform, refer to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2169/products_feature_guide09186a008018912f.html. ORDERING SRST FEATURE LICENSES A SRST feature license is included when purchasing a SRST bundle, as explained previously. If ordering separately or to add the SRST feature to an existing router, or to add additional phone feature license support select the appropriate SRST feature license from Table 3. If you are using the Dynamic Configuration tool, choose the correct license under the “Feature License for IP Telephony” menu. Feature licenses can be combined to reach a specific phone count requirement. When ordering the Cisco SRST Feature License, you will receive a feature license letter and SRST IP Phone user guides. For proof of purchase, you should retain the feature license letter plus a copy of your invoice. If you purchase a Cisco CME Feature License (part number FL-CCME-xxxx), you can deploy in SRST mode for the number of phones purchased without notification or re-licensing to Cisco Systems®. For additional phone support, you can buy additional SRST feature licenses up to the maximum supported on the router. Feature licenses can also be transferred from one router to another without notification or a re-licensing fee. Table 3.

VERIFY MEMORY REQUIREMENTS Ensure that you have met the minimum flash and DRAM memory requirements recommended to support Cisco SRST. The Dynamic Configuration tool does not accept an SRST order with insufficient flash or DRAM memory selected. Memory requirements are based on common configurations only. A large number of phones, PSTN modules, and complex configurations may require more memory than recommended. For recommended memory requirements, go to the SRST specifications sheet for the version being deployed at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2169/products_feature_guide09186a008018912f.html. ADDING PSTN MODULES Add analog or PSTN modules to meet your requirements for voice connectivity. Details about the different modules are available at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps3115/prod_module_series_home.html. © 2005 Cisco Systems, Inc. All rights reserved. For deployment of SRST sites, reference the Cisco CallManager design guides (Solution Reference Network Design [SRND]) available internally and on Cisco.com for deployment models and configuration guidance. DSP RESOURCES FOR PSTN-TO-IP CONNECTIVITY The Cisco High-Density PVDM2 helps Cisco integrated services routers (ISRs) provide high-density voice connectivity, conferencing, and transcoding capabilities in Cisco IP Communications solutions. DSP resources are required for connecting existing telephony equipment (such as PBXs, key systems, analog telephones, and fax machines) or to the PSTN. DSP resources can also be used for conferencing and transcoding, saving WAN bandwidth for the remote SRST site. The high-density PVDM2 modules are available in five sizes to meet different capacity requirements: Cisco PVDM2-8, PVDM2-16, PVDM2-32, PVDM2-48, and PVDM2-64. Details can be found at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps5365/products_documentation_roadmap09186a00802c71d0.html. The Cisco DSP Calculator for access routers is available on Cisco.com at http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/Support/DSP/cisco_dsp_calc.pl. ADDING CISCO UNITY EXPRESS VOICE MESSAGING If voicemail is desired, add Cisco Unity Express (part number NM-CUE or AIM-CUE) plus the required software package(s). Details are available in the Cisco Unity Express ordering guide available at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/modules/ps3115/products_qanda_item09186a00801c63a2.shtml. ORDERING IP PHONES AND CISCO CALLMANAGER PHONE USER LICENSE When ordering IP phones for Cisco CallManager SRST, you must purchase the phone and the appropriate Cisco CallManager User License. These licenses are available in the Dynamic Configuration tool using the IP phone part number. Customers who initially purchase a Cisco CallManager Express User License can use Cisco CallManager at their main site or remote SRST site(s) (Table 4). Table 4.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES Cisco offers two types of maintenance contracts for Cisco CallManager SRST customers: Cisco SMARTnet support for the Cisco router and Cisco IOS Software, and Software Application Support plus Upgrades (SASU) for the Cisco CallManager Telephony application. The SRST telephony application support is covered under the customer’s centralized Cisco CallManager SASU contract. The Cisco SMARTnet contract covers the router hardware, Cisco IOS Software routing application, and upgrades. No SAS-U maintenance agreements for Cisco SRST deployments are in use today. APPLICATIONS AND MIGRATION TO SRST If you initially deploy or purchase a Cisco CME bundle, the Cisco CME Feature License includes a provision to use the feature license for SRST mode without an additional charge or re-licensing to Cisco. You only need to reconfigure the router for SRST mode. If you need support for additional phones beyond the current Cisco SRST license, you must purchase additional SRST feature licenses (part number FL-SRST-xxxx=) to support the maximum per platform type. If you want to use gatekeeper functions or tandem gateway for support of H.450 in front of Cisco CallManager, you need to do so on a dedicated router. These features are not supported on the SRST-enabled router. You should order a properly sized router and a Cisco Integrated Voice and Video Services Feature License, which offers gatekeeper, IP-to-IP gateway, and tandem gateway (H.450) support in one feature license. For Cisco SRST configuration documentation, refer to http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2169/products_feature_guide09186a008018912f.html.
