Communications & PR Coordinator A brand new opportunity has arisen for a highly-motivated, innovative individual with a background in communication and public relations to join the Western Bulldogs. Supporting the Communications Team and reporting to the Media Manager , this role coordinates general communications activities, including liaising with media as well as providing proactive contribution of high quality content for the Club’s broad range of communications and social media platforms. The Communications Coordinator role will have a strong emphasis on building and fostering productive relationships with key stakeholders, and will generate media coverage, particularly at a local level for VFL and other Club related opportunities. Suitable applicants will be able to assist in the brand alignment and brand recognition with the Club’s strategic objectives and communications strategies, utilising all of the communication platforms available. The successful applicant will be able to strategically maximise positive exposure for the Western Bulldogs’ through a strategic public relations schedule while promoting and protecting the brand though best practice risk and crisis management. It would be expected that the successful applicant can demonstrate experience with following key duties and responsibilities:
Identify and create new PR opportunities to leverage club activities and maximise its brand awareness. Create high quality editorial content for all Western Bulldogs’ communications platforms, including but not limited to the Club website, Bulldog Magazine and social media channels. Set up of weekly media press conferences Maintaining accurate records and monitoring for the Communications Team Establish editorial content plans that are creative, engaging and fit in with the Club’s broader key messaging Managing VFL media activities Assists in day-to-day website content management Assist with Social Media including monitoring networks and fan forums and supporting Communications Team to manage the scheduling of posts and respond and communicate with fans Assist Media Manager on match day, including but not limited to social media tasks, producing editorial content for the web and general media and web content management. Willingness to perform other duties as required
The successful applicants have a minimum two to three years’ experience working in the media and/or PR field, degree preferred. Strong writing skills are a must and a successful history with media management at a community, government or sporting environment is preferred. Ideally you will have advanced knowledge of website content management systems and social media platforms is preferred. Frequently think outside the square, thrive on working under pressure, highly organised and motivated, have excellent time management skills and a proven ability to work to tight deadlines.
