COPING WITH MASS KILLING Medical Research in the Ancient and the Biblical Times from the Viewpoint of Contemporary Perspective
Examination of Passages from the Bible, Exactly as Written Liubov Ben-Nun
Mass killing is a cruel human behavior prevalent in the world, and representing a significant global problem. Is this behavior described in the Bible? If so, who were the characters involved? Are mass killings prevalent in contemporary times? What are motives behind the killings? What weapons are used to kill people? What are the psychological dimensions of the survivors? What are the personality traits of the killers? How do survivors cope? The Biblical texts were examined and verses that describe mass killing were studied closely from a contemporary viewpoint. Cases involving a single victim and his assassinator, homicide, suicide, legal intervention, and unintentional firearm-related death were excluded from this research.

Suicide bombings, in particular, are being increasingly deployed due to the devastating effect of a combination of high lethality and target accuracy. Analysis of the GTD and a PubMed/Embase literature search (keywords "terrorist", and/or "suicide", and/or "bombing") from 1970 to 2014 was performed. A total of 58,095 terrorist explosions worldwide were identified in the GTD; 5.08% were suicide bombings. Incidents per year are increasing (p
