Blackboard Course Availability and Duration Guide

Blackboard Course Availability to students is determined by the course dates in PeopleSoft. ! By default, your courses begin and end with no intervention on your part.! Instructors have the option to individually modify their course Start and End dates.!

!

This reference is to assist you in the event you want to open your courses earlier than the beginning date of your course, or need to make other accommodations for your class.!

! ! Terms! !

Availability: Determines if a student can view the course or not. All courses are Available by default, but the students ability to see the course is determined by the Course Duration.! ie: If a course is Unavailable, students cannot see the course no matter what dates are in the Course Duration fields.!

!

Course Duration: Course Duration determines the date range that a course is visible to students.! By default all courses automatically Start on the date set in PeopleSoft, and End (become Unavailable to students) 30 days after the final day of class as determined by PeopleSoft. This allows flexibility for students to see final grades and communication from their instructor.!

! !
