May 18, 2014 - coalition of churches in Central Florida have designated .... Boone HS | Tallahasse Comm. College. Amy Gu
We are a
covenant community,
making disciples who
light the world.
WELCOME! Thank you for coming to First Presbyterian Church of Orlando this morning! So glad you’re here. We worship together as a church family in four services on Sundays: Traditional worship in the Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11am, and Genesis worship in Lee Fellowship Hall at 9:45am and 11am. If you’d like to connect and learn more about this church, one of our leaders will be available at the front of the room after worship, or you can visit fpco.org/guest.
NEXT STEP As an expression of support and gratitude for the faithful men and women who put their lives on the line daily, a coalition of churches in Central Florida have designated today as Law Enforcement Sunday. We invite you to take time to pray for these brave public servants, law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMTs. We’re humbled by their service and seek God’s blessing on each one and their families.
THIS WEEK Join us today for First Step, immediately following the 11:00am worship services. Hosted by Kent Sterchi, this is a 30-minute overview of the church and how you can connect. We’ll meet in the Prayer Room, located between the Sanctuary and Lee Fellowship Hall. Our monthly Evening Prayer Service is this Wednesday, May 21 at 6:00pm in Lee Fellowship Hall. Be with us as we seek God’s voice in our lives. Our focus this month will be on lifting up our city, nation and world.
NEXT WEEK
COMING UP
Next Sunday, in honor of Memorial Day, we’ll have only two worship services: Genesis at 9:45am in Lee Fellowship Hall, and Traditional worship at 11am in the Sanctuary (no 8:30 worship). Monday, May 26 is a day to remember the men and women who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Join us Sunday, June 1 at 9:45am for Introduction to Serving the City, a brief overview of the ways our church is serving in the city and how you can be involved. Meet staff and volunteers from our ministry partners, and learn ways you can serve the City Beautiful.

GENESIS WORSHIP
Matthew 28:18-20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” 18
Congratulations, seniors! Your church family is extremely proud of you and your accomplishments! We’re praying for you as you move into this new season of life. I pray that The Lord will make it clear to each of you what your specific calling will be. And whatever you choose to do vocationally, do it with excellence while being a light for Christ to those around you. You guys are our future generation...we trust you and love you all! - Wil Brown

NOTES
TRADITIONAL WORSHIP
It may seem like a while since we celebrated the resurrection on Easter Sunday. Keep in mind that during these past days and for another week or so, Jesus remained on earth appearing to different people and groups of people at different times. Often it was around a meal. The Scriptures tell us that He appeared to more than 500 people at one time. Look around, that is a few more people than are in this service. That fact is a strong witness to a physical resurrection. Jesus’ physical appearances after the resurrection had a life-changing impact on the disciples. They went into ministry full-time! They became ambassadors for Christ wherever they went. And they went all over the then-known world, from Spain to India and into northern Africa. They left their previous occupations when they heard God’s call to their lives. The result was hard to imagine...through God’s Spirit living and empowering them, they changed the world. God has been empowering and calling ordinary people ever since, including some of the people sitting around you! Might God be calling you? Something to ponder. - Dr. Dan Sharp (Please silence all phones and electronic devices.)

*Passing of the Peace St. Paul always greeted with the words, “The peace of God be with you.” This is an appropriate way to greet fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and so we say, “The peace of the Lord be with you” and respond, “And also with you.” We then pass this greeting of peace to one another. At the passing of the peace we should earnestly desire God’s peace upon each person we greet.
