CPLED PROGRAM 2015/2016 KEY DATES Students in the CPLED Program take the following combination of face-to-face and online sessions:

Face-to-Face Oral Advocacy & Professional Responsibility (choose 1 of 4): Week of August 24, 2015 (Calgary) Week of August 31, 2015 (Edmonton) Week of January 4, 2016 (Edmonton) Week of January 11, 2016 (Calgary) Interviewing & Advising (choose 1 of 4): Week of September 28, 2015 (Edmonton) Week of September 28, 2015 (Calgary) Week of February 8, 2016 (Edmonton) Week of February 8, 2016 (Calgary) Negotiations & Practice Fundamentals (choose 1 of 4): Week of October 26, 2015 (Calgary) Week of November 2, 2015 (Edmonton) Week of March 14, 2016 (Calgary) Week of March 21, 2016 (Edmonton) Session enrolment is limited. Students are encouraged to register early; preferences are granted on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendance is mandatory. Dates are subject to change. Detailed schedules will be sent to confirmed applicants. Students should remember to consult with their articling firms, wherever possible, before making their selections. This helps ensure that session preferences take into account the interests of the principal, the law firm, and the applicant.

Drafting Pleadings:

Drafting Contracts:

November 5, 2015 to November 26, 2015

Written Advice & Advocacy:

November 26, 2015 to December 17, 2015

Practice Management:

January 14, 2016 to February 4, 2016

Client Relationship Management: February 11, 2016 to March 3, 2016 Ethics & Professionalism:

March 3, 2016 to March 10, 2016

Trust Accounting:

Self-study, due March 31, 2016

Online modules open at 4 p.m. on the start date. This is the earliest that students can access their course work. During a module, online submissions are due before 4 p.m. each Thursday. Deadlines are strictly enforced, unless prior approval in writing has been granted. Students can complete the Trust Accounting self-study course at any time during the CPLED year. To avoid delaying their bar admission, students must obtain a certificate of completion by March 31, 2016.

Note: The registration deadline is May 31, 2015. Students who do not apply by this date are subject to a non-refundable late filing fee. Documentation and fees are due July 31, 2015. Students whose documentation and fees are not received by this date may have their applications cancelled and/or be delayed entry into the CPLED Program. Supplemental competency evaluations are scheduled during the Reserve Period that runs March 31, 2016 to June 23, 2016. LESA-D-701 Rev 1.0
