IGCSE CHEMISTRY KS4 SCHEDULE MODULES/UNITS
COURSEWORK DEADLINES/EXAMS
Year 9: Pupils undertake topics from the course that are suitable for their age. These include understanding particles, separation techniques, metals and their uses, exploration of different types of fuels and the environmental issues arising from the combustion of fuels. Year 10: Pupils are stretched further to understand the groups of the periodic table and the chemical reactions associated with these elements, rates of reactions, reactions of acids and bases to make salts and quantitative chemistry. Year 11: The more difficult topics of bonding, electrolysis, equilibrium and organic chemistry are tackled this year in conjunction with an emphasis on reviewing the content of the entire course in preparation for the terminal examinations. Course Overview: Coursework (taken over 3 years) = 20% Multiple Choice Paper (Terminal )=30% Either Core or Extension Written Paper (Terminal) = 50%
