Dinosaur ROAR! Areas of learning As Historians and Geographers we will be looking at the life of a significant person from the past: Mary Anning. She found dinosaur bones in a place called Lyme Regis during Victorian times. We will be finding out about her discoveries and how her findings have helped scientists to work out what life on Planet Earth was like over 60 million years ago. Children will continue to use ICT hardware to interact with age-appropriate computer software and select and use technology for particular purposes. Know about similarities and differences in relation to places, objects, materials and living things. Make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes. Talk about features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another. As Artists we will be. Safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function. We will use what we have learnt about media and materials in original ways, thinking about uses and purposes. Represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through design and technology, art, music, dance, role play and stories. This will include creating our own Fossils, making our own 3D dinosaurs, designing Dinosaur Scenery, composing Dinosaur music and much more. As Outdoor learners we will be working in groups to show our ideas of dinosaurs and dinosaur dens in 2D and 3D. We will be developing a dinosaur swamp and becoming archaeologists and digging for fossils on our school site. As Scientists we will be learning to recognise similarities and differences between different dinosaurs and their environments. We will be looking at how dinosaurs are adapted to the foods they eat e.g. Sharp teeth for meat eaters.

Learning Detectives As Learning detectives we will: Self assess and peer assess our work discussing what is good and any improvements we could make with a Talk Partner. We will have opportunities to Look for Learning in other classrooms

Independent Learners As independent learners we will: We will continue to make sensible choices during our independent learning times. Taking charge of our learning journals remembering any work we are proud of can be put into them. Using ICT we will: Continue to update our blog with news and interesting things we have been learning together so that parents can be involved. Be taking and printing our own photographs of our work or findings outside. Continue to use our new Purple Mash software developing our mouse and keyboard skills.

Social and Emotional In our spiritual and moral development we will: Continue to be interested, excited and motivated to learn. Be confident to try new activities, initiate ideas and speak in a familiar group. Understand that people have different needs, views, cultures and beliefs, that need to be treated with respect. Understand that they can expect others to treat their needs, views, cultures and beliefs with respect. Have a developing respect for their own cultures and beliefs and those of other people.

As Children concerned with our Physical Development we will show good control and co-ordination in large and small movements. Move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. Know the importance for good health of physical exercise and a healthy diet, and talk about ways to keep healthy and safe.

Immersion Activities Wow: Finding dinosaur eggs in our classroom. Looking after the eggs creating a home for them etc. Creature features will be visiting with some reptiles and snakes to show us how animals adapt to environments and looking at their skin, features etc. Finale: We will be creating our very own swamp cocktails.
