Brooklyn City College is staying in tune with the rapidly changing needs of society in terms of education and training. Because of this we are offering accredited and registered National Diploma and Certificate qualifications which enable graduates to be absorbed by the relevant industry. The National Certificate (Vocational) is aimed at students at NQF level 2 in Further Education and Training (FET) public and private colleges, as well as other institutions offering FET vocational programmes. The National Certificate (Vocational) at level 2 of the NQF enables students to acquire the necessary knowledge, practical skills, applied competence and understanding required for employment at an elementary level of a particular occupation or trade. NC (V) programmes are offered on levels 2, 3 and 4 of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in Business Studies, Engineering Studies, Creative and Social Services as well as Information and Communication Technology. The qualification is a yearlong course and learners are issued with a certificate upon successfully completion of each level of study i.e. level 2, level 3 and level 4. The National Certificate (Vocational) will offer programmes in the form of subjects that will consist of academic knowledge and theory integrated with the practical skills and values specific to each vocational area. The practical component can be offered in either a real workplace environment or a simulated one and will give learners a feel of the world of work outside during their period of study. Brooklyn City College is proud to announce the introduction of NATED Courses. The qualifications are N1 - N6 in the stream of Engineering and N4 - N6 in the stream of Business/Management Programmes. Engineering Programmes (N1 - N6) - Each level has a period of 6 months. After successful completion of each level, the learner is awarded a certificate. On completion of all levels all learners will undergo internship training industry experience for a period of 2years, after which a leaner will be awarded a Diploma by the Authority Body of the Department of Education. Business/Management Programmes (N4 - N6) - Each level has a period of 6 months. After successful completion of each level the learner is awarded a certificate. On completion of all levels all, learners will undergo an internship training industry experience for a period of 18 months, after which a leaner will be awarded a Diploma by the Authority Body of the Department of Education. This qualification has been formulated such that it reflects the workplace-based needs of the Information Technology Industry as expressed by its stakeholders. The input has been used to ensure that the qualification provides the learner with accessibility to be employed within the IT Industry. REGISTRATION PROCEDURES Registration can be done through the FOUR prescribed methods provided below. • Applying Personally You can fill in the application form at the front desk of any of our campus (please refer to the address pages) and hand in your application in person. If you are in the area, it will be advantageous to visit the campus to submit your forms in person. This will not only offer you the opportunity to see the facilities of the college, but also to discuss any enquiries with the admission department. • Applying By Post Alternatively, you can also send your application back by post. • Applying On Line Online application is also one other avenue through which prospective students can apply. Prospective students are advised not to enter South Africa on visitor's visa with the objective of applying for a change of status at a later date since they will have to also meet the requirements outlined by the Department of Home Affairs. Cost of Living In addition to the tuition fees, Students will be required to have funds for their living expenses ranging from 1800 ZAR (300 USD) to 3000 ZAR (500USD) while in SA. The average rent for a single room (not sharing ranges from R1000 to R1500 ($150 to $25550) excluding water, electricity and parking. Depending on your country of origin, you may or may not require a visa or entry certificate to enter The Republic of South Africa. Please check with the South African High Commission or Embassy in your home country if you may require a visa before you start making travel arrangements. Other surrounding and bordering nationals who may not require a visa or entry certificate may find it useful to acquire a visa since it will ease their entry into South Africa upon arrival. Most airlines will also need to see that you have acceptable immigration documents as they will be heavily fined for carrying passengers without the right and permits to enter the country. To obtain a student’s visa, you will be required to produce the following documents to the Entry Clearance Offer at the South African High Commission in your home country (this may vary from country-to-country): • A valid passport • Evidence of enrolment unto a full-time course or programme of study consisting a minimum of 15 hours day time study per week. • Evidence that you possess the minimum academic qualifications for your chosen course of study. • Evidence of your ability to meet the cost of your tuition and living expenses in South Africa for the duration of the course. • The Entry Clearance Officer will also need to be satisfied that the course you intend to follow will enhance your employment prospects in your country upon graduating and also that, you intend to return to your home country upon completion of your studies.

Accommodation At Brooklyn City College, we do not provide on campus accommodation but students can book appropriate accommodation from a list reachable from our front desk or website, www.brooklyncitycollege.co.za. Attendance Attendance is important. Students should endeavor to arrive timeously at their classes. The lecturer must grant permission in advance if the student wants to leave earlier. Refund Policy No Refund will be made on any monies paid to the college in respect of Registration, books or fees. A 25% cancellation fee will be charged if cancellations which are to be made in writing are received less than 3 working days before the course commencement date. The full fee will become payable if no cancellation notice is supplied to the college before the scheduled course commencement date. No refund will be paid in the case of death, illness, injuries or cancellation of astudent. Cancellation procedures outlined in the registration form. Payment maybe made respectively into the college bank account. A deposit is alsopayable as per course, as specified. Fees vary according to the choice of yourcourse. The stipulated amount may be paid in cash or in instalment as specifiedin the price list. Each monthly instalment is due and repayable on or before the31st of every month. A waiting period of 2 months is allocated for the processing of any refunds.NO CASH IS HANDLED AT THE COLLEGE. Certificate will be awarded for learning programmes attended; learner will be assessed as competent and completed the level.
