THE CHINESE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG Faculty of Law Fangda Partners Scholarship for JD Students Regulations Fangda Partners (the “Donor”) pledge to donate a scholarship to The Chinese University of Hong Kong (“CUHK”) on an annual basis starting from the academic year 2018-2019 for an initial period of 5 years. Regulations governing the award of the scholarship are detailed below: 1.

The Scholarship will be known as “Fangda Partners Scholarship” and in Chinese as “方達律師事務所獎學金”.

Each year, one Scholarship in the sum of HK$50,000 shall be awarded. The recipient of the Scholarship (the “Scholar”) shall be a second year full-time JD student of the CUHK Faculty of Law.

3.

The following will be considered in the selection process: • academic merit as shown in the first degree of the applicants; • academic merit as shown in the first year of study in the JD Programme of the applicants; • other qualities, including leadership and personality; • preference will be given to applicants who plan to graduate from the JD Programme after the completion of their second year of studies.

4.

Applicants shall submit a curriculum-vitae, a copy of their first degree transcript and the CUHK JD Programme transcript. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with the Donor.

5.

The Scholarship shall be awarded subject to the Scholar having completed a summer clerkship with the Donor in the calendar year in which he/she is selected to receive the Scholarship.

6.

The Scholar may be offered a solicitor’s traineeship contract with the Donor upon the Scholar’s completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) Programme.

7.

In any year when applicants are judged to be of insufficient merit, no award shall be made. The Donor’s decision in respect of the award of the Scholarship will be final.

8.

The Donor shall notify CUHK prior to the beginning of any academic year if arrangements set out in these Regulations are to be varied or discontinued.
