Ensure that caravans and tents are at least six metres apart. Know where the Fire exits and Muster points are located. Keep your mobile phone close at hand. Keep a torch handy for emergencies – Never use open flames, such as candles. Keep matches and lighters safe and away from children. Flammables are not allowed in the camping area. Use the kitchen area for all food preparation. Flammable liquids and gas cylinders should be kept outside the camping area and away from children. Oil-burning appliances should not be used in or around tents. Keep cooking appliances away the camping area. Use the designated cooking area. Keep the cooking area clear of flammable material, including long grass. Do not smoke inside tents. Have an escape plan and be prepared to cut your way out of your tent if there is a fire. Fires in tents and caravans spread very quickly – evacuate immediately. Showers, changing rooms and toilets will be provided at the rear of the camp site. The Scouts Association of Trinidad and Tobago will manage the campsite and provide briefings from 10:00am on both Saturday and Sunday.

PARKING DAY PARKING will take place at the front and main entrance of the Event. There are a limited number of spaces and will be supervised by our parking attendants. Please secure your cars for your overnight stay. NIGHT PARKING will take place at the rear of the Festival at the Night Entrance. Security will be present to assist with parking of vehicles as well as for the safety of vehicles while at the night event. Ramp down at Freeport overpass and turn left onto Arena Road. Continue along Arena Road then veer right onto La Cuesa Road. You will see the Community Recreation Grounds on your left and the Presto Praesto Youth Camp on your right. Continue until you see a trace with a festival sign and turn right. Follow the signs to the car park and festival entrance. CLICK THE MAP FOR DIRECTIONS!
DIRECTIONS Directions: http://www.smaltt.com/sandyhill/directions/ FROM THE SOUTH: Exit the Solomon Hochoy Highway at the Freeport turnoff (signposted and about half-way between the Grand Bazaar and the San Fernando turnoff), drive down the slip road, turn right at the junction, drive under the bridge and turn first right onto Mission Road. FROM THE NORTH: Exit the Solomon Hochoy Highway at the Freeport turn off, turn down the slip road and go straight across onto Mission Road. Drive along Mission Road for 4 to 5 minutes (approx. 2.4 km). Pass Ogeer Trading (big “Sissons Paints” sign on the left) until you get to a big house with a green roof on your left. Turn left immediately after that house onto Freeport Todds Road. There is a sign that says “Lakshmi Narayan Temple” on the corner. Drive along Freeport Todds Road passing over a small bridge for 2 to 3 minutes (approx. 0.7 km) until you get to a road hump and a yellow house on your left. Take the next left onto Arena Cemetery Street. This street is not signposted, but look for an old vehicle bonnet with “Frankie’s Auto Import” painted on it at the corner. Drive along Arena Cemetery Street for a couple of minutes (approx. 1 km) and drive along a straight stretch with some large houses on your left until you get to a house with a cream-coloured wall and a big mango tree on your right. Turn left onto a dirt road opposite the mango tree and drive down for about 300 yards to the bottom of the ‘Open’ field on your right. Turn right and drive along the fence below the open field towards the trees. Follow the road between the trees and then turn left and turn into the Cashew Grove (which is the central meeting area) and park as directed.
HEALTH AND SAFETY NEW FIRE Festival 2016 simply wouldn’t happen without the help and co-operation of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS). The TTPS will be on site at Sandy Hill Nature Park all weekend to make sure you enjoy the festival in a safe environment. Police officers will work alongside the NEW FIRE security teams to ensure the safety and security of our guests and team. They will be patrolling the sites and car parks to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. However, we must all do our bit to keep the peace and ensure we all enjoy the BEST.WEEKEND.EVER. • Don’t leave anything valuable in your tent. Lock your tent when you leave it. The Scouts Association Pop-up shop will have locks for purchase. • If you can’t take your valuables with you when you leave your tent, leave them at home. • Keep your money, tickets, credit cards, and mobile phones in a secure place or with you all the time. • Do not bring large sums of cash. Only bring what you need and keep it on you at all times. • Add your name to all your property so if it is misplaced, it can easily be identified. • If you arrive by car, don’t leave anything on display in your vehicle i.e. navigation systems, car stereos, CDs or mobile phones. Don’t place items in your glove box or the trunk. Take everything with you or leave it at home. • Don’t make yourself an easy target. Don’t over-indulge and always be aware of your surroundings. • Should you for any reason become unwell or have an allergic reaction, please visit the First Aid tent where one of the medical attendants will attend to you.
WHAT TO BRING NEW FIRE STRIVES TO MAKE YOUR EASTER WEEKEND FUN AND COMFORTABLE. Though we have the fun covered, you can help by bringing along items to make your two-day staycation as pleasurable as possible. In additional to reusable bottles, containers and camping gear, feel free to bring your blankets, picnic baskets, beach towels, yoga mats, paint and colouring kits, umbrellas and sunblock. Add to the list anything that will make your NEW FIRE Festival 2016 experience worry-free!
WHAT NOT TO BRING At NEW FIRE Festival your safety and maximising sustainability are two of our primary concerns. We’ve created a list of items that will be removed from bags, coolers and other containers at the gate by our security team and retained until the end of the festival. • NO more than one small plastic water bottle per person • NO Styrofoam containers or plates • NO single use cutlery or cookware (plastic forks, spoons single-use plates, etc.) • NO fireworks, lanterns or explosives • NO fire starter’s or campfire gear, open flame items or gasoline • NO laser pointers • NO weapons of any kind The best way to guarantee your item stays safe is to leave it at home. Let’s enjoy a safe and green #BestWeekendEver!
