Floris Math Olympiad 2013-2014 The Floris PTA would like to offer Math Olympiad in 2013-2014 for students in grades 4, 5 and 6 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Weekly Math Olympiad training sessions will be held every Wednesday after school between 4.00-5.15pm from October through mid March. In addition, students participate in 5 monthly contests from November to March. There will be a participation fee to cover the cost of team registration and materials. We encourage all motivated students to utilize this program for extending their math skills. Math Olympiad is an international program that stimulates enthusiasm for Mathematics, strengthens Mathematical intuition and fosters Mathematical creativity and ingenuity. For details, please check http://www.moems.org/index.htm. Student Registration will begin in Sept 2013. A parent information meeting will be held in Sept 2013 to present the details of the program. Please look for the registration form in the Open House packet. The success of this PTA program depends on a lot of parent volunteers who can help with: • Coaching and Training – someone with a good understanding of Middle School math concepts and a passion to teach Math Problem Solving. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in coaching. • General Support – someone who can help with administrative tasks such as copy volunteers, dismissal helpers, classroom helpers and end of year ceremony helpers
Please step forward and sign up for any help you can provide. Children whose parents volunteer as coaches will receive first priority during registration. The registration priority is as follows: 1. Children of Coaches 2. Children of General Support Volunteers 3. All other registrants based on a first-come, first-serve basis Please remember that this flyer is for information purposes only.
