Parents of Children with Disabilities or Learning Differences Hopkinton SEPAC is the Special Education Parent Advisory Council. Hopkinton SEPAC membership is open to any and all parties. You do not have to have a child with special needs to join. If your child, or you know a child who, has trouble reading, writing, understanding math, has an identified disability or perhaps is undiagnosed, but definitive presence of a physical, intellectual, emotional disability, organizational or attention difficulties or allergies, join Hopkinton SEPAC to learn more about these and other areas in the developing child. Hopkinton SEPAC believes in the importance of each child’s education, striving to continually improve the quality of Hopkinton’s special education programs through a variety of programs, speakers, administration meetings, and community outreach services. We share resources needed from the preschool age child to the high school graduate and beyond. The purpose of the Hopkinton SEPAC is to work for the understanding of, respect for and support of, all children with special needs in the community. To that end and pursuant to 603 CMR 28.07(4), the Hopkinton SEPAC mission is: Promote a network of parents of children with special needs and provide a forum to share information, and discuss matters of common concern and interest. Bring speakers to the district to speak on special education topics, share information, provide training and support. Meet regularly with the District Student Services Administrators and other appropriate school personnel as needed, to promote cooperation, communication and advise the district on matters that pertain to the education and safety of students with disabilities; meeting regularly with school officials to participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of the school district's special education programs. Advocate for programs, instructional materials and assistive technology to benefit children with identified and unidentified disabilities and learning differences in our school district.
