Val Verde Unified School District Security Department gives back to community
Perris, California – With the help of business partners, and a No Shave November contest the Val Verde Unified School District Security Department has raised over $5,000 dollars for their Second Annual Christmas Toy Giveaway. “From stuffed animals and dolls to board games and puzzles, these toys will bring joy to so many children in our district,” says Michael R. McCormick, Superintendent of the Val Verde Unified School District. “We are so proud to continue our important partnership with local businesses to help to make our latest toy giveaway such a success, especially as the holidays draw near.” This project was first established last year by newly appointed Val Verde Chief of Police, Mark Clark, in an effort to help families in our communities. The Toy Giveaway aims to pass out toys to children in the Val Verde communities and arrange for students to spend some time with Santa Clause to help celebrate the holidays. To date over 1,000 students have benefited from this effort, including our homeless, special education students, and foster youth. Over the last two years the Val Verde Security Department has partnered with several local organizations such as Mattel, Barry’s Security, Robertson’s, School’s First Credit Union, Netronix, Erickson Hall, DC Architects, Moreno Valley Optimist Club, and Grand Canyon University to help gather funds and toys for the giveaways. “The children are the most important part of what we do as a department. The holidays are an amazing time for us to give back to the community and kids in need. We are fortunate to have great partnerships and collaboration with groups who are dedicated to supporting children during this special time of year. I’m so proud of the staff that dedicate their time to give back,” said Chief Mark Clark.
In addition, this year the department arranged to bring Santa Clause to the Loma Linda Children’s Hospital to bring toys to the children during a visit Thursday morning. Families were grateful to receive gifts and have the opportunity to celebrate with the Val Verde Unified School District this holiday season. ### Val Verde Unified School District is located in the heart of the Inland Empire, approximately 72 miles east of Los Angeles.
