Which students are eligible for tutoring (SES)?

All students from low-income families whose school is required to offer SES, priority may be given to those eligible children with the lowest test scores based on funding availability. 

How much will tutoring cost me?

Tutoring is free for eligible students and will be paid for by the school district. 

Where will my child be tutored?

This depends on the tutor which you choose. Depending on which tutor you select, your child may be tutored at: a school, a local church, community center, a place of business, or your home. 

How will my child get to tutoring?

Parent(s)/legal guardian(s) are responsible for getting their child to and from tutoring unless the provider offers transportation. 

What are the benefits of receiving SES (free tutoring)?

Students participating in SES (free tutoring) may increase academic achievement. 

Can I select any tutoring provider I want?

You must select a tutoring provider on the State-approved list. You will be provided with a list of the name and telephone number of tutoring providers in your area. You are free to select whichever provider you would like from the State approved list. If you have access to the Internet, you can see a complete list of State-approved providers by visiting: http://www.gadoe.org/tss_title_parent.aspx?PageREq=TSSTitleSES using the “SES Provider Directory” link on the right side of the page, locate, “Walton County” from the drop down menu. 

Which students are eligible for tutoring (SES)? 1. Eligible families are notified via U.S. mail, phone messenger, school flyer, and/or informational meeting hosted as schools offering SES. 2. Parents complete the Request for Services form, choose 3 providers, and submit it to: Dr. Major at the Walton County Board of Education 200 Double Springs Church Road Monroe, GA 30656 or by FAX at 770-266-4485, or by electronic submission on the county website www.walton.k12.ga.us or to the principal at the designated schools, who will submit it to Dr. Major. 3. Student eligibility is verified and prioritized. 4. Students are assigned to the available provider based their selections. 5. Student information and applications are shared with providers. 6. Providers contact approved families to begin services.

Please complete the attached “Request for Service Form”. Return the “Request for Service Form” to Dr. Major or your child’s school on or before September 2, 2010.
