REVISED JULY 2010
Introducing
What’s different about the BRT?
Where do BRT buses stop?
Music City’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service is designed to move MTA bus riders along the city’s busiest corridor with more frequent service, fewer stops, and a greener attitude.
Passengers travel more quickly along this busy corridor on new 60-foot articulated, fuel-efficient hybrid buses. Customers experience a 10-minute shorter trip compared to the local Route 26 - Gallatin Road service. Here’s how:
BRT buses stop every threequarters of a mile at stops marked with a green “BRT bus stop” sign. BRT buses do not stop at other MTA bus stops (marked with blueand-white signs).
Covering 12 miles, the Gallatin Road BRT began in late September 2009. The route runs from Music City Central to the edge of Sumner County, just north of RiverGate Mall. It is a faster, more convenient and comfortable commute between downtown and northeast Nashville.
» FEWER STOPS « BRT buses stop every three-quarters of a mile. Customers experience fewer stops along the way and less time spent waiting for others to board and exit the bus.
» MORE GREEN « All of the MTA’s hybrid, articulated and much larger buses are in use for BRT service. This provides more passenger room, more seating and a positive environmental impact. In addition, Green Light Extenders have been placed on all BRT buses. This enables traffic lights to stay green longer as BRT buses approach, moving passengers along Gallatin Road faster with fewer red light stops.
LESS WAITING « » LES 56 Gallatin Road BRT
Because BRT buses bu make half as many local service, they arrive more stops as the loc frequently to each ea BRT location. In fact, no bus schedule is necessary for this service arrive at regular intervals since buses arr throughout the day — as often as every 15 minutes on weekdays. wee

Where do I purchase tickets and what is the cost? Pay your fare on a BRT bus the same way you do on other buses. You may use any MTA prepaid multi-ride fare media, pay $1.60 each way, or use an All-Day Pass for unlimited rides on a particular day. Passengers needing to meet connecting buses at Music City Central must either pay another fare or use other prepaid ticket media for that portion of their trip.
