Dictionary Your son will receive a DICTIONARY in Grade 3 (Longman Pocket English Dictionary, 2001). He must bring this to school every day. If your son doesn’t have this dictionary he needs to buy a new one from staff in the EP Teachers’ Room. The cost is 330B.

Please note: Your son may also bring in an electronic dictionary to supplement the Longman Pocket Dictionary.

Take Home Readers Your son will continue to use Take Home Readers this year from the beginning of Term 1. He will receive a new book each week. We encourage you to have your son read his book to you every day. Each week your son will also have to complete an activity in his Reading Reflection Notebook based on a selected reading strategy that we are focusing on in class.

Birthdays We understand that birthdays are a very important annual event and boys enjoy celebrating their birthday with their class mates and friends. However we ask that if your son would like to bring in food for his birthday that it be a rectangular cake. No pizza or take away food please. Even better are cup cakes or cake pops as they can be handed out quickly and easily. Please also provide plates, forks, candles, and a plastic cakecutting knife if they are required. Thank you for your cooperation.

EP Learner Profile As a way to create the best environment for learning for all students in EP, this year we will be focusing on the EP Learner Profile. The profile is easy to understand for all students in the program. It also provides an easy way for all members of the EP learning community to stay focused on the strong attitudes and values of the program.

The EP Learner Profile EP Learners: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6)

Use English. Are responsible. Work well with others. Care for our environment. Try their best. Are kind to others. 3

EP students will take ownership of their profile by creating visuals that relate to each statement to display throughout the school. The EP Learner Profile will also be reviewed together with EP students during the year. With your support and encouragement the EP Learner Profile will provide a shared focus on quality learning in all parts of EP.

Finally Both the Foreign and Thai EP Staff look forward to working with you this year. If there are any factors in your son’s life that may affect his learning at school please inform our staff so that we can support your son with his special needs. If you would like to discuss your son’s development at anytime please contact your son’s teachers directly or our Thai staff in the EP Teachers’ Room to arrange an appointment. We hope that your son has a very happy and successful year in EP. Yours faithfully,
