At age 21, Hudson Taylor left England to go to China as a missionary. After sharp disagreements over missionary strategy with missionary colleagues, Taylor resigned from the mission board that had sent him. Determined not to ask anyone other than God for money, he stepped out on faith, trusting God to supply his needs. Eventually, he founded the China Inland Mission on that same principle. By the time of the Boxer Rebellion, half of all evangelical foreign missionaries in China were from Hudson Taylor’s organization. At the time of his death in 1905, CIM had 800 missionaries in 205 mission stations in China serving over 125,000 Christians.
