Introduction

This documentation provides technical information about the BusinessPhone capability to support SIP Trunking (provided by an Internet Telephony Service Provider - ITSP) using the ISDN SIP GateWay. It describes how to configure the different systems using an ISDN link.

1.1

BusinessPhone overview

The BusinessPhone communication platforms offer large system capabilities in a package that is cost effective for organizations requiring between 8 and 300 extensions. The system provides ISDN connectivity, cordless and mobile extensions, intelligent voice messaging, full call center facilities, and the ability to create private networks of BusinessPhone and other PBX's Highlights included are: Converged solutions that support IP Telephony and IP Networking. Mobility functions for cordless users, home workers and people constantly on the move and hospitality solutions specially designed for hotels, conference centers. 1.2

ISDN SIP Gateway overview

The ISDN SIP GW is a Voice-over-IP (VoIP) SIP media gateway, implementing digital cutting-edge technology. The ISDN SIP GW is designed to seamlessly interface between TDM and IP networks, providing superior voice quality and optimized packet voice streaming (voice, fax, and data traffic) over IP networks. The ISDN SIP GW is ideal for connecting an enterprise's legacy telephones, fax machines and PBX systems to IP-based telephony networks, as well as for seamless connection of IP-based PBX architecture to the PSTN. The ISDN SIP GW is fully interoperable with multiple vendor gateways, soft switches, SIP servers, gatekeepers, proxy servers, IP phones, session border controllers, and firewalls. The ISDN SIP GW exists with Basic Rate Interface (BRI) or Primary Rate Interface (PRI). The ISDN SIP GW provides a user-friendly embedded HTTP-based Web server for remote configuration and management using a standard Web browser (such as Microsoft™ Internet Explorer™ or Netscape™ Navigator™), from anywhere in the world with IP connectivity to the device. Front View

This schematic shows the ISDN SIP GW front panel modules.

Figure 1 Front Panel Modules The components in the figure are: A ISDN module(s) for BRI, E1 or T1. These modules are used for connecting to BusinessPhone. B CPU module with Ethernet Connectors The Ethernet Port 1 is used to connect to network.

On the rear side is the power connector (100-240VAC, 0,5A, 50-60Hz) and ESD / Earth connection.

Pre-configuration of the ISDN SIP GW

Warning! Protective Earthing: The equipment is classified as Class I EN60950 and UL60950 and must be earthed at all times. Units providing power sockets with three pins must be connected by service personnel to a socket-outlet with a protective earthing connection. Before connecting cables, connect an electrically earthed strap of 16 AWG wire (minimum) to the chassis earthing screw, using the included washer. The ISDN SIP GW chassis must be permanently earthed using an equipment-earthing conductor. The connection to the protective earthing must be in accordance with the regulations enforced in the country of installation.

3.1

Hardware

The following non-included hardware is required when setting up the ISDN SIP GW : • PC including an Ethernet interface. • Ethernet HUB or Switch. A HUB is to prefer in case of traces. o 2 standard Ethernet (RJ-45) cables. • A cross over cable can be used, if no hub or switch is available (direct connection between PC and ISDN SIP GW)

Basic Network Data

The following network data is required (from customer’s network admin) to start the configuration on customer’s network: • IP Address • Subnet Mask • Default Gateway

3.3

Hardware setup

The ISDN SIP GW is configured using a PC connected to ISDN SIP GW through an ethernet hub or switch. Follow the steps below to connect a PC to ISDN SIP GW:

Connect the earthing wire to the chassis earthing screw at the back. Connect the Ethernet port labeled I on the CPU module to the hub or switch using a standard Ethernet cable. Connect the Ethernet port on the server module to the hub or switch using a standard Ethernet cable. Connect the PC to the hub or switch using a standard Ethernet cable. Configure the Ethernet card on the PC as follows: Static IP address: 10.1.10.20 Network mask: 255.255.0.0 Connect the power cord to the ISDN SIP GW unit.

ISDN SIP GW is now ready for configuration.

Software Upgrade

Download the latest software from the Knowledge Base and store it locally on your computer. Go to Management (Basic) / Software Upgrade / Software Upgrade Wizard and click Start Software Upgrade to upgrade the ISDN SIP GW.

In the Upgrade Window select the *.CMP file you have downloaded from the Knowledge Base.

Click Send File to upload the file to ISDN SIP GW. After the successful upload click Reset to burn the software in flash memory. Afterwards the system restarts. This can take a few minutes.

Set IP Settings

Setup the network parameters according to customer’s network requirements. Go to Configuration (Basic) / Network Settings / IP Settings and enter:

NAT IP Address: Is required, if you run ISDN SIG GW behind a NAT router and a public static IP address is used. In this case set the public IP address. For dynamic public IP address use an STUN server. Click Submit to save the changes. At this point the ISDN SIP GW does not respond anymore to the old IP address (10.1.10.10). Change your PCs IP address accordingly to be able to connect to the new address. Note: Don’t power off or reset the ISDN SIP GW before the next step is successfully done! Reconnect and Logon. Click Burn to store the new IP address permanently in flash memory.

Calling number adaptation

Same operators don’t send the calling number in SIP URL field. Save and restore system configuration

This chapter describes how to take a backup and restore configuration for an ISDN SIP GW.

6.1

Export system configuration

To export the system configuration go to Management (Basic) / Software Update / Configuration File. Click Save INI File to store the system configuration (board.ini) on your PC.

6.2

Import a system configuration

To import the system configuration go to Management (Basic) / Software Update / Configuration File. Click Browse to select system configuration file (board.ini) and click Load INI File to import the configuration.

6.3

Reset – Default configuration

Press the reset button (Labelled // ) in the front panel on the CPU module with a paperclip or similar for about 10 seconds to reset the ISDN SIP GW to default settings.

Take a LAN trace with Wireshark (http://www.wireshark.org/) to analyse the SIP and network communication. Set in the Menu Capture / Options the network card and select all tree display options and start the trace.

It is possible to order the BRI and E1/T1 module separately for repair case: ROA 116 06/1 ROA 116 01/1

If other parts of the ISDN SIP GW are broken, the whole box has to be sent to the repair centre. Note: The CPU module of EMS can’t be used because it isn’t the same for ISDN SIP GW.

It isn’t possible to upgrade the ISDN SIP GW with BRI module by replacing with an E1/T1 module, because of license.
