What is an Interjection?   



An interjection is a word that expresses emotion. An interjection is often followed by an exclamation point. Sometimes, an interjection is separated from the rest of the sentence with a comma. Interjections are the kinds of words you shout out when you are filled with happiness, horror, shock, anger, pain, or confusion.

Examples

Ouch! I think I broke my leg!

Uh-oh! This is not good!!

Yippee! I love it when I don’t have homework!

Wow! We’re winning by a lot!

Hey! I’m over here!

Rats! I hate losing!
