JOB VACANCY PARALEGAL – LAW FIRM – BRISTOL, BS1 Posting Date: 27 September 2017 Closing Date: 31 October 2017 Position: Paralegal Salary: TBC Job Type: Permanent Start Date: ASAP OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE An opportunity has arisen with a quality medium sized law firm in Bristol city centre for a paralegal within our Private Client team. This is an exciting opportunity to experience a busy private client practice with the opportunity to experience a wide variety of work. You will be involved in drafting wills, trusts and lasting powers of attorney, assisting with administering estates, running trusts as well as supporting members of the team who are professional deputies and making Court of Protection applications. You will be working alongside an experienced team helping them progress a heavy case load and would be an excellent opportunity for those looking to specialise in private client work. Once you have sufficient experience, you will also be given your own files to progress under supervision. The ideal candidate would be someone who has a genuine interest in private client work. Although prior experience is not a requirement as full training will be provided, it is preferred. We are looking for a bright, proactive individual with a 'can-do' attitude. The department is very busy, so you would need to be highly organised and meticulous. You should possess a sound grammatical and mathematical ability and have an excellent eye for detail. You will work closely with a wide range of people both in person and over the telephone applicants must therefore be able to demonstrate excellent internal client care. It is essential that you are able to show that you can adopt a helpful and friendly approach and possess the necessary interpersonal skills to perform this role successfully. It is important that you are able to communicate effectively at all levels. You will be expected to work to tight deadlines so good organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative is important. An excellent telephone manner is also essential.
There will be some typing responsibilities within the role. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate strong IT ability and confidence in using a range of computer packages, including the full suite of Microsoft Office applications. File opening Obtaining information from P’s family (P is incapacitated person) to draft the forms Drafting court forms Preparing court documents Liaising with the court Paying routine bills Organising insurance and other routine tasks on the file
