Quilting Tip: I decided to save time and money by quilting this on my domestic sewing machine. Take a long ruler (24” ish) with 45 degree angle markings. I did a simple cross-hatch design. I marked every 5” (which just happened to be the width of my ruler). Line up the 45 degree mark along the edge of the runner. Come back and mark the opposite direction. You can use a fusible batting or 505 adhesive spray (do not use cheap adhesive sprays!) They can ruin your sewing machines! Or just pin, pin, pin! It was quick and fun to get totally finished easily in an afternoon!

oval template
Add Applique and center ric rac. Make two copies of the center oval. Cut out each one from paper, match up the dotted lines and tape together. Use the template and trace it onto wonder under. Repeat for each letter. Cut out each traced piece of wonder under1/4” larger than the actual traced line. Place the wonder under to the wrong side of fabric and press into place. Cut each traced piece out on the actual traced line. Let them cool! After about 10 minutes, score the back with a straight pin and peal the wonder under off from the middle out. This will help keep your edges nice and crisp! Set aside. Use the oval template , center it on the quilt as shown in illustration no. 2. With a water soluble pen, trace around the oval template. Lay the ric rac just inside the traced line. Make sure both ends of the ric rac are tucked up inside the oval. Pin in place. Sew ric rac on just barely catching the inside edge of the ric rac. Place the fabric oval on top of the ric rac, take time to center it and make sure your stitching of the ric rac does not show. Once you are happy with the placement, iron in place. Center the word joy in the oval. Iron in place. Use a blanket stitch on your sewing machine and stitch in around each letter and the oval. If you do not have a blanket stitch, sew a straight stitch 1/8” - 1/4” from the edge (what ever you prefer) or use a zig zag stitch.
