Fact Sheet
The Khwai Private Reserve The Khwai Private reserve is 200,000ha of pristine wilderness with Moremi to the south,Savuti to the North and the Khwai Community reserve on its eastern border. In other words, it is right in the middle of some of the most famous wildlife and game viewing areas in Botswana. The Khwai Private Reserve is set to become one of the premier wildlife photography destinations in Africa.
The Pangolin Khwai Camp Our new camp is the perfect destination to combine with our properties in the Chobe for a well-balanced and comprehensive Botswana safari. With a maximum of 12 guests in the camp at any one time there will be an inclusive and intimate safari atmosphere. We believe the camp will be the perfect destination for photographers and general safari goers alike. The camp will be hosted by a resident Pangolin Photo safaris host who will be on hand to ensure that the guest experience offered in the other Pangolin properties is continued in The Delta.
Communal areas The communal areas of the camp are large enough to accommodate a full camp and also the needs of our photo safari clients. There is a dedicated area with a long table for group editing sessions and presentations along with conveniently located storage and charging points for camera gear situated at the entrance. The sunken lounge and fire will play host to clients throughout the day and evenings with easy access to the well-stocked bar. Meals will be taken around one long dining table with views across the grasslands in front of the camp – a favourite grazing area for herds of elephant and plain game.
Activities on the reserve At the camp, we have three game viewers which means a maximum of four guests per vehicle. The vehicles have been modified with camera mounts built into the arm rests. The advantage of this ratio of vehicles to clients is that we can cater for the needs of the clients wanting more (or less) time on the game drives. The resident Pangolin photo host will pair up clients with similar needs and photographic expectations. This importantly reduces the extra expenses of private hire of vehicles most commonly requested by photo safari clients. As the camp is on a private reserve we are permitted to off-road at special sightings as well as conduct night drives. With the limited numbers of vehicles on the reserve we will also not be rushed off sightings nor have to share them with large numbers of other vehicles. On the reserve, there is also a dedicated Mokoro station and clients staying for three or more nights will be offered this as a free inclusion in their package. Game walks are available upon request and subject to availability of qualified walking guides. WWW.PANGOLINPHOTO.COM

Getting there The reserve has its own airstrip at Banoka which is serviced by all the major charter airlines. As an alternative, there is also the Khwai airstrip which is equidistant from the Pangolin Khwai Camp as far as transfer times are concerned. Banoka is the preferred strip. There is the potential to transfer to Maun by road which takes approximately 3-4hours.
